British academic Peter Checkland (1930 -) is the developer of soft systems methodology (SSM) in the field of systems thinking. Peter Checkland was Professor of Systems at the Lancaster University where he is currently Professor Emeritus of Systems. Prior to that he worked in industry for 15 years as a manager in the ICI.
