Peter Hardy, Baron Hardy of Wath (16 July 1931 - 16 December 2003) was a British Labour politician. The son of a Wath-upon-Dearne miner, Hardy trained as a teacher, rising to be head of English at a Mexborough school. After a spell as a local councillor, during which he stood as a parliamentary candidate in several safe Conservative seats, he entered parliament in 1970 for the Rother Valley constituency. Wikipedia
