Petro Mykolayovich Symonenko (born August 1, 1952 in Donetsk) is the first secretary of the Communist Party of Ukraine. Symonenko was a candidate in the last two presidential elections, including the 2004 Ukrainian presidential election, nominated by the Communist Party of Ukraine. He has been a party member since 1978, and party chairman since 1993. He is a Ukrainian delegate to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
