Phil graduated from the University of Leeds with a B. Eng. honours degree in Fuel and Energy Engineering in 1988, he is a chartered engineer (C. Eng.) and a registered European engineer (Eur. Ing.) Phil joined British Petroleum as a trainee drilling engineer in Aberdeen. Since that time he has worked in the North Sea and North Africa for operators including Ultramar, Lasmo, Amoco, BP, Venture and Paladin Resources.
