Reed E. Hundt (born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, March 3 1948) was chairman of the Federal Communications Commission from 1993 to 1997. Appointed by President Clinton, he served for most of Clinton's first term. He was succeeded by William Kennard. He oversaw the introduction of spectrum auctions and the implementation of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 that reduced substantially the rates for international telecommunications service.
