Richard Trevithick was a British inventor, engineer and builder of the first working railway steam locomotive. He was born at Tregajorran (in the parish of Illogan), between Camborne and Redruth, in the heart of one of the rich mineral (former) mining areas of Cornwall, United Kingdom. He died on 22 April 1833 at Dartford, Kent.
