I spent three years as the webmaster at the College of Engineering for the University of Kentucky. I slung HTML, and CSS. By the end of it I'd redesigned the site, and figured out that what I really like about web development is called "Information Architecture." I left the College of Engineering and moved to Seattle in October 2004. I had two website design contracts with small clients back in Ky that allowed me to really explore standards based design.
