Rickey D. Tolley was the head coach of the Marshall University Thundering Herd football team during the 1969 and 1970 seasons. He died in the 1970 plane crash that killed most of the Marshall football team and coaching staff. Tolley became the interim head coach of Marshall just 4 days before the start of fall practice for the 1969 season.
