Rodney Ackland (May 181908 - December 6 1991), born in Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, died in Richmond upon Thames, Surrey. Ackland was an English playwright, actor, theatre director and screenwriter, educated at Balham Grammar School in London. In his 16th year he made his first stage appearance at the Gate Theatre Studio, playing Medvedieff in "The Lower Depths".
