(26 July 1879 - 10 May 1962), was a field marshal in the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II. A native of Fukushima prefecture and a graduate of the Imperial Japanese Army Academy, Hata served in the Russo-Japanese War. Sent as a military attaché to Germany in 1912, he stayed in Europe throughout World War I as a military observer.
