Stuart Fergusson Victor Sutcliffe (23 June 1940 - 10 April 1962) was a British musician and artist who, until his early death, worked in a style related to Abstract Expressionism. Sutcliffe was an art school friend of John Lennon and was the original bassist of the English rock band The Beatles for two years.
