Almarhum Sultan Sir Abdul Samad ibni Almarhum Raja Abdullah was the sultan of Selangor from 1857 till 1898. During his reign, Selangor saw its only civil war. The war today is known as the Klang War. In 1873 or 1874, he became the first sultan of Selangor to accept a British Resident. Sultan Abdul Samad was conferred the GCMG with a title "Sir". He died in 1898 and was buried at Jugra Mausoleum and was officially known as Marhum Jugra. Wikipedia
