Sylvester served Dixie Softball, Inc. (DSI) and the state of Texas as a national director from 1986 through 1993. He chose not to stand for re-election to the DSI Board of Directors in 1993. While on the Board he served as the editor to the DSI newsletter, “The Pitch”, and as committee chairman of the safety and equipment committee.
