Walter Edward "Turk" Broda (May 15, 1914 - October 17, 1972) was a former ice hockey goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was born in Brandon, Manitoba on May 15, 1914 to a Ukrainian-Canadian family. He joined the Maple Leafs in 1936. In 1941 he won the Vezina Trophy and was be selected to be on the All Star Team. The next year Broda had another great season leading Toronto to a Stanley Cup and being selected on the second all- Star team. Wikipedia
