New York State Senator Vincent L. Leibell III was born in New York City on August 6, 1946. He was first elected to the New York State Senate in 1994 when he defeated a former New York State Lieutenant Governor. Previously, he had worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Westchester County District Attorney's office and served five terms in the state Assembly, where he had risen to the position of Assistant Minority Leader "pro tempore".
