William Francis Gibbs (August 24, 1886 - September 6, 1967) was a naval architect who directed the mass production of cargo ships for the United States during World War II, including the famous Liberty ships, of which 2,751 were built. In partnership with his brother Frederic, he also designed the passenger liner SS United States (1952). Born in Philadelphia and trained as a lawyer, Gibbs became a self-taught naval architect.
