William G. McGowan (10 December 1927 - 8 June 1992) was an American entrepreneur and chairman of MCI Communications. His role as leader of MCI also caused him to play an important role in the break up of AT&T while growing the startup company into a company that in 1991 had US$9.5 billion in revenues and controlled 16% of the American domestic and international long distance market.
