Yael German has been the mayor of Herzliya, Israel since 1998. German is the first female mayor in Herzliya and one of the few women who have served as mayors of Israeli cities. German has a bachelor's degree in general history from Tel Aviv University. She is married and has two children, and has been a citizen of Herzliya since 1979.
