  1. Clyde Drexler

    Clyde Austin Drexler (born June 22, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a former National Basketball Association shooting guard. A ten-time All-Star and member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, he was named one of basketball's fifty greatest players by the NBA. Drexler won an Olympic gold medal in 1992 and an NBA championship in 1995 with the Houston Rockets. He is currently the color commentator for Rockets home games.

  2. Chuck Daly

    Charles Jerome "Chuck" Daly (born July 20, 1930 in St. Marys, Pennsylvania) was an American basketball head coach. He is famous for coaching the Detroit Pistons for nine years, winning consecutive NBA championships in 1989 and 1990, and for coaching the gold medal-winning basketball Dream Team in the 1992 Summer Olympics. During his 14-year NBA career, Daly has also coached the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Jersey Nets and Orlando Magic.

  3. Oscar de la Hoya

    Oscar De La Hoya (born February 4, 1973) - nicknamed the Golden Boy - is an American boxer who won a gold medal for the United States Boxing Team at the Barcelona Olympic Games and is considered one of boxing's all time greats. Oscar De La Hoya became Ring Magazine's "Fighter of the Year" in 1995 and Ring Magazine's best "Pound for Pound" fighter in the world in 1997.

  4. Matt Biondi

    Matthew "Matt" Nicholas Biondi (born October 8, 1965 in Palo Alto, California) is a three-time U.S. Olympic swimmer in the 1984, 1988, and 1992 Summer Olympics, winning a total of 11 medals. In the 1988 Summer Olympics, Biondi equalled Mark Spitz as the second swimmer to win seven medals in one Games. Michael Phelps would win eight medals at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Biondi left Seoul with five golds, setting world records in four of those events.

  5. Gail Devers

    Yolanda Gail Devers (born November 19, 1966 in Seattle, Washington, USA) is a three-time Olympic 100 m champion in athletics for the US Olympic Team. Devers grew up near San Diego and graduated from Sweetwater High School in nearby National City, CA. A young talent in the 100 m and 100 m hurdles, Devers was in training for the 1988 Summer Olympics, started experiencing health problems, suffering from among others migraine and vision loss.

  6. Derek Redmond

    Derek Redmond (born September 3, 1965 in Bletchley) is a retired English athlete. He currently works as a motivational speaker. As a 400 metres and 4 x 400 metres runner he won gold medals at European, Commonwealth and World Championships. His career highlights include a fifth place over 400 m at the 1987 World Championships and a 1991 World Championships 4x400 m gold medal. However, disappointment came at the 1992 Summer Olympics in the 400m race.

  7. Dan O'Brien

    Daniel ("Dan") Dion O'Brien (born July 18, 1966 in Portland, Oregon) is a former American decathlete. He was deemed one of the best decathlon athletes of the 1990s. In 1992 he set a world record of 8,891 points, but failed to qualify for that year's Olympics when he failed to clear a height in the pole vault during the decathlon in the U.S. Olympic Trials. Dan O'Brien grew up as an adopted child in an Irish-American family in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

  8. Silken Laumann

    Silken Suzette Laumann (born November 14, 1964 in Mississauga, Ontario) is a Canadian champion rower. Starting in 1976, Laumann won a number of awards, including a gold medal in quadruple sculls at the U.S. Championships, two gold medals in single sculls at the Pan American Games, a bronze medal at the 1984 Olympics in the double sculls with her sister Daniele. At the 1988 Olympics, Laumann finished seventh in the double scull.

  9. Jenny Thompson

    Jennifer ("Jenny") Elisabeth Thompson (born February 26, 1973) is a former swimmer, and one of the most decorated Olympians in history, winning twelve medals, including eight golds, while representing the United States of America in the 1992, 1996, 2000, and 2004 Summer Olympics. Thompson, a Massachussetts native who calls Dover, NH her hometown, began swimming for the Seacoast Swimming Association under coach Amy and Mike Parratto.

    Michael ("Mike") Anthony Powell is an American Track and Field athlete, and the holder of the long jump world record. Mike Powell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the 1991 World Championships in Athletics (Tokyo), he broke Bob Beamon's 23-year-old long jump world record by 5 cm (2 inches), leaping 8.95 m (29 ft 4½ in). The world record still stands.

  14. Vitaly Scherbo

    Vitaly Scherbo (or Shcherbo), born January 13, 1972 in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR, is a Belarusian (and former Soviet) gymnast and is one of the most successful male gymnasts of all time. His tally of six gold medals in a single Olympics is surpassed only by swimmer Mark Spitz. Scherbo was introduced to gymnastics at the age of seven by his mother in an attempt to channel the energy of her highly intelligent but uncontrollable young son.

    Dennis Allen Mitchell (born February 20, 1966) is a former American athlete, winner of gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Born in Havelock, North Carolina, Mitchell placed fourth in 100 m at the 1988 Summer Olympics and missed a probable gold medal in 4x100 m relay race, because the American team was disqualified in the heats, after the pass between Calvin Smith and Lee McNeill was made out of the zone.

    Natalya "Natasha" Zvereva (Belarusian: "Наталля Зверава", Russian: "Наташа Зверева"; born April 16, 1971) is a tennis player from Belarus. Playing initially for the Soviet Union, Zvereva won many doubles titles during the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s. As a junior, Zvereva won the Wimbledon girls singles title in 1986, defeating Leila Meskhi in the final 2-6, 6-2, 9-7.
