    Gwen Torrence (born June 12, 1965) was a sprint athlete and an Olympic gold medalist from the United States. She was born in Decatur, Georgia. She attended Columbia High School, then the University of Georgia. Torrence has won medals at nearly every major athletics competition, including the Summer Olympics, Outdoor & Indoor World Championships, Pan American Games, Goodwill Games, and World University Games.

  2. Bruny Surin

    Bruny Surin is a former Canadian athlete, winner of gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Surin was born in Cap-Haïtien, Haïti, and moved to Canada with his family in 1975. Surin made his debut at the major international championships at the 1987 Pan-American Games, where he was fifteenth in a long jump. At the 1988 Summer Olympics, Surin was again fifteenth in long jump.

  3. Jon Drummond

    Jonathan A. "Jon" Drummond is an American athlete, winner of gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jon Drummond is known for being among the world’s best starters. In 1991, Drummond won the 200 m at the World University Games. At the 1993 World Championships, Drummond ran the opening leg on the American 4x100 m relay team, which won the gold medal and equalled the world record of 37.40.

  4. Dennis Mitchell

    Dennis Allen Mitchell (born February 20, 1966) is a former American athlete, winner of gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1992 Summer Olympics. Born in Havelock, North Carolina, Mitchell placed fourth in 100 m at the 1988 Summer Olympics and missed a probable gold medal in 4x100 m relay race, because the American team was disqualified in the heats, after the pass between Calvin Smith and Lee McNeill was made out of the zone.

  5. Glenroy Gilbert

    Glenroy John Gilbert (born August 31, 1968 in Port of Spain) is a former Canadian athlete, winner of gold medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Glenroy Gilbert formed along with Robert Esmie, Bruny Surin and Donovan Bailey the best 4x100 m relay team in the mid-1990s. Gilbert made his debut at the major international championships at the 1988 Summer Olympics, where he was 21 in the Long Jump.

  6. Robert Esmie

    Robert Esmie (born July 5, 1972) is a Canadian athlete, winner of the gold medal in the 4x100 m relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Born in Jamaica and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, Esmie formed along with Glenroy Gilbert, Bruny Surin and Donovan Bailey the world's best 4x100 m relay team in the mid-1990s. Esmie was seventh in 100 m and won a bronze medal in 4x100 m relay at the 1993 World Championships.

  7. Iva Prandzheva

    Iva Prandzheva (born February 15, 1972 in Plovdiv) is a former Bulgarian athlete who was successful in both long jump and triple jump. Her best performance came at the 1995 World Championships where she won a silver medal with 15.18 metres, a personal best. The winner of the event, Inessa Kravets, set a new world record (15.50 metres) which still stands. Prandzheva competed at the 1996 Summer Olympics, but failed a drug test there and was banned.

  8. Manuela Machado

    Maria Manuela Machado (born August 9, 1963 in Viana do Castelo) is a former Portuguese long-distance runner, who was particularly successful when running the marathon. Unlike many other marathoners, she did not focus on running city marathons that would have earned her lots of money. Instead, she participated in major competitions (which were less monetarily profitable). Machado participated in the marathon in every major competition between 1990 and 2000.

  9. Derrick Adkins

    Derrick R. Adkins (born July 2, 1970) is a former American athlete, winner of 400 m hurdles at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Derrick Adkins rose into the international athletics scene in 1991, when he finished third at the US National Championships and qualified to the 1991 World Championships, where he finished in the sixth place. Adkins won the World Student Games in 1991 and 1993 and finished seventh at the 1993 World Championships.

  10. Mikaela Ingberg

    Mikaela Ingberg (born July 29, 1974 in Vaasa) is a is a Finland-Swedish javelin thrower. Her achievements include bronze medals at the 1995 World Championships, 1998 and 2002 European Championships. She has been coached by Tapio Korjus. Her personal best throw is 64.03 metres, achieved in September 2000 in Berlin.

  11. Tonja Buford-Bailey

    Tonja Buford-Bailey (born December 13 1970 in Dayton, Ohio) is a former American athlete who competed mainly in the 400 metre Hurdles. She competed as Tonja Buford until marrying Victor Bailey on October 28, 1995. She competed for the United States in the 1995 World Championships held in Gotenberg, SWE in the 400 metre hurldes where she won the silver medal behind compatriot Kim Batten USA, Buford nearly caught Batten on the line as both athletics broke the World Record.

  12. Ellen van Langen

    Ellen Gezina Maria (Ellen) van Langen (born February 9, 1966 in Oldenzaal) is a former Dutch middle distance runner. Van Langen has a degree in economics at the University of Amsterdam. Before she started running, she played football. At the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, she won the Olympic title in the 800 m in a time of 1:55.54, a time which remained her personal best. After her major achievement, she was plagued by various injuries.

  13. Galina Malchugina

    Galina Malchugina (born December 17, 1962 in Bryansk) is a retired sprinter from Russia. Competing for the Soviet (later Russian) relay team, she won medals at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. In the individual distance 200 metres her success came mostly on European level, although she won a bronze medal at the 1995 World Championships.

  14. Ezio Madonia

    Ezio Madonia (born 7 August 1966 in Albenga) is a retired Italian sprinter who specialized in the 100 metres. In 4 x 100 m relay he helped win bronze medals at the 1990 European Championships in Split, 1994 European Championships in Helsinki and 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg. In 100 metres he took a silver medal at the 1987 Mediterranean Games and won the 1991 Mediterranean Games. His personal best time is 10.26 seconds.

  15. Hanne Haugland

    Hanne Haugland (born December 14 1967 in Haugesund) is a former Norwegian high jumper. She represented the clubs Haugesund IL, IL i BUL, SK Vidar and IF Minerva during her senior career. In her early international career he finished eleventh at the 1987 European Indoor Championships and the 1987 World Indoor Championships and thirteenth at the 1988 European Indoor Championships.

  16. Ekaterina Serebrianskaya

    Ekaterina Serebrianskaya is a former Individual Rhythmic Gymnast. She started gymnastics in 1982 at age 4, her mother Liubov was her coach, at the "Gratsia" club in Simferopol. After that she went to the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, to train at the Deriugins School. Ekaterina retired from Rhythmic Gymnastics in 1998. She is 178cm / 5.8ft in height. Ekaterina tied Bulgaria's Maria Petrova for the all-around title at the 1995 world championships in Vienna, Austria.

    Louis Tsatoumas (born 12 February 1982) is a Greek long jumper. On June 2nd, 2007 in Kalamata he jumped 8.66 metres, achieving a personal best. The performance was the best in the world since Ivan Pedroso leaped 8.70 m to win the gold medal at the 1995 World Championships in Goteborg. Tsatoumas ranks as the 8th-best long jumper in history and holds the European record in the event at low altitude.

  19. Geir Moen

    Geir Moen (born June 26, 1969) is a former sprinter from Moss, Norway who specialized in the 200 metres. He represented Moss IL. His international senior debut came at the 1989 European Indoor Championships. At the 1994 European Championships he made his breakthrough as he won the gold medal in the 200 metres and the silver medal in the 100 metres. These were Norway's first European sprint medals since Haakon W. Tranberg in 1946.

  20. Ian Thompson

    Ian Thompson (8 December 1968 - March 1998) was a Bahamian high jumper. He finished eleventh at the 1995 World Championships. He won the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships in 1986. He died in March 1998 and the Bahamian 4x100 metre women's relay team dedicated their gold medal in the 1999 World Championships to him.

  21. Udeme Ekpeyong

    Udeme Ekpeyong (born 28 March 1973) is a retired Nigerian sprinter who specialized in the 400 metres. Ekpeyong won a bronze medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1995 World Championships, together with teammates Kunle Adejuyigbe, Jude Monye and Sunday Bada. At the 1992 Summer Olympics he finished fifth with teammates Emmanuel Okoli, Hassan Bosso and Sunday Bada.

  22. Svetlana Moskalets

    Svetlana Moskalets (born 22 January 1969) is a retired Russian heptathlete. She finished fifth at the 1994 European Championships, won the gold medal at the 1995 World Indoor Championships, the silver medal at the 1995 World Championships and finished fourteenth at the 1996 Olympic Games. She also participated at the 1997 World Championships without finishing the competition. Her personal best score was 6598 points, achieved in June 1994 in Vladimir.
