  1. Gary Hall Jr.

    Gary Wayne Hall Jr. (born September 26, 1974 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American swimmer who competed in the 1996, 2000, and 2004 Olympics and won ten Olympic medals (5 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze). Hall is well known for his antics before a competition; frequently strutting onto the pool deck in boxing shorts and robe, shadow boxing and flexing for the audience. He is a graduate of swimming powerhouse Brophy College Preparatory in Phoenix, Arizona.

  2. Hope Solo

    Hope Solo is a goalkeeper for the United States women's soccer team. She attended Richland High School and the University of Washington, and played for several junior U.S. soccer teams before being named onto the Olympic team in 2004, making the 2004 Olympics in Athens as an alternate. She has recorded several shutouts, and once went 1,054 minutes without allowing a goal (a streak that ended in a 4-1 victory against France in the Algarve Cup).

    Alan Webb (born January 13, 1983, in Ann Arbor, Michigan) is an American track athlete. He holds a personal best of 3:30.54 in the 1500m, making him the third fastest American of all time at that distance. He competes professionally for Nike.

  5. Yang Tae-Young

    Yang Tae-Young (born July 8, 1980, Seoul) is a South Korean 2004 Olympic medalist in artistic gymnastics. Yang made his World Gymnastics Championships debut in 2001, competing with the eighth-place South Korean team in Ghent. He also participated in the 2003 Worlds in Anaheim, where he helped the Korean squad qualify a full team to the 2004 Olympics with a twelfth-place finish. Yang also competed in the all-around final in Anaheim, placing twelfth.

  6. Jon Deeble

    Jon Deeble (born May 18, 1962 in Melbourne, Australia) was a pitcher on the Australia national baseball team in the 1988 Olympics. He later went on to be a minor league manager. Deeble managed the Australian squad at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics, leading the team to a silver medal in the latter Games. Deeble was Australia's manager, as well, in the 2006 World Baseball Classic.

    Li Ya (Simplified Chinese:李娅) is a Chinese gymnast born on June 13, 1988 in Anhui Province. Li Ya is an uneven bars and balance beam specialist. Li Ya is the 2004 National Champion on the uneven bars as well as the 2004 National All Around Silver Medalist. She a greta deal of success in the 2004 World Cup Circuit despite a bad showing at the 2004 Olympics. She won the uneven bars title at the Glasgow and Ghent World Cup Qualifiers.

  9. Mike Powell

    Michael ("Mike") Anthony Powell is an American Track and Field athlete, and the holder of the long jump world record. Mike Powell was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the 1991 World Championships in Athletics (Tokyo), he broke Bob Beamon's 23-year-old long jump world record by 5 cm (2 inches), leaping 8.95 m (29 ft 4½ in). The world record still stands.

  10. Eliud Kipchoge

    Eliud Kipchoge (born November 5 1984 in Kapsisiywa, near Kapsabet) is a Kenyan 5000 metres runner. He won a gold medal at the 5000m final of the 2003 World Championships, beating runner-up Hicham El Guerrouj by four hundredths of a second, by 12:52.79 and 12:52.83. He won a bronze medal at the 5000m final of the 2004 Athens Olympics, behind Hicham El Guerrouj and Kenenisa Bekele. He also won the bronze in the 3000 metres indoor at the 2006 World Championships in Moscow.

  12. Anky van Grunsven

    Theodora Elisabeth Gerarda 'Anky' van Grunsven (born 2 January 1968 in Erp) is a Dutch Dressage champion who won the gold medal in the 2000 Olympics with her horse "Bonfire" and gold in the 2004 Olympics with "Salinero". Anky is married to her trainer/coach Sjef Janssen who entered the world of horses at the age of 28 and introduced new views on training. In 2005, accusations of abusive training by Van Grunsven appeared in the German horse magazine St. Georg.

  13. Mary Sanders

    Mary Sanders (born 26 August, 1985 in Toronto, Canada) is an individual Rhythmic Gymnast. Mary holds dual citizenship of both the United States and Canada. Her father was from the US and her mother is Canadian, she began her career representing Canada. In late 2002 she decided to compete for the USA. Sanders is an Olympian, having competed in Athens in the 2004 Olympics. She has since retired from rhythmic gymnastics and she is now employed by Cirque du Soleil.

    Monique Hennagan (born May 26, 1976 in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American athlete who mainly competes in the 400 metres. She won her first relay medal at the 1999 World Indoor Championships and her second in 2003. The next year, at the 2004 Olympics, she won a gold medal in the same event.

    Hiroyuki Tomita (born Osaka, 21 November 1980) is a Japanese gymnast. Tomita was part of the Japanese team that won the gold medal at the 2004 Olympics and a bronze medal in the team event at the 2006 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships. He was the all-around men's individual world champion in 2005. He also has won 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals at the 2002 and 2006 Asian Games.

  16. Alexandros Nikolaidis

    Alexandros Nikolaidis (born October 17, 1979) is an Olympic taekwondo athlete from Greece. Initially the favorite, he eventually won a silver medal at the 2004 Olympics held in Athens after being knocked out by a reverse roundhouse kick (Jump Spinning Hook Kick) from his opponent and gold medalist, Dae Sung Moon of South Korea.

    Hasna Benhassi (born June 1, 1978) is a Moroccan middle distance athlete. At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, she finished second to Kelly Holmes in the women's 800 meters. In August 2005 she won a silver medal in the 800 meters at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. She placed 8th in the 800 meters at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

    Clinton Hill (born April 19, 1980) is an Australian athlete. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, his family moved to Australia in 1997. He became an Australian citizen in June 2000 and was selected for the national 400 metres team. He competed in the 400 Metres at the 2004 Olympics, but was knocked out in the heats. However, Hill was a member of the Australian team that won the silver medal in the 4 x 400 metres relay.

    Richard "Butch" Johnson (b. August 30 1955) is an archer from Woodstock, Connecticut in the United States. He has competed in the Summer Olympics four times, and was a part of the gold medal U.S. team at the 1996 Olympics and the bronze medal U.S. team in the 2000 Olympics. At the 2004 Olympics, he was surprisingly eliminated by Ron van der Hoff with 135-145 in the round of 64, placing 52nd overall in men's individual archery.

  22. Calvin Harrison

    Calvin Harrison (born January 20, 1974) is an American athlete. He won a gold medal in the Men's 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He is the twin brother of fellow Olympic medalist Alvin Harrison. At the 2000 Olympics, Alvin Harrison and Calvin Harrison made history by becoming the first twins ever to compete and win Olympic gold medals together on the same relay team since the inception of the modern Olympic Games.

    Aleksander Tammert is an Estonian discus thrower. He competed at the 2004 Olympics and originally finished fourth, but as gold medal winner Róbert Fazekas was disqualified Tammert got the bronze medal.   26. Monette Russo

    Monette Russo (born August 4, 1988 in Lillydale, Victoria, Australia) is an Australian Artistic Gymnast. She made Australian history by becoming the first Australian gymnast ever to win an individual World Championship medal at the 2005 Melbourne Artistic Gymnastics World Championships when she came third in the all-around competition. She competed in three apparatus finals but there were no more medals. Monette finished seventh on bars and fifth on beam and floor.

    Campbell Walsh (b. 26 November 1977, Glasgow) is a Scottish kayaker who won a Silver Medal in the K1 Single Class at the 2004 Olympics.     Tim Brabants (born 23 January 1977 in Chertsey) is a British flatwater canoeist who won the individual kayak 1000m (k1) bronze medal at the 2000 Olympics. He went on to become K-1 1000m European champion at Szeged, Hungary in 2002, the first time a British paddler had won the blue riband event. The 2004 Olympics however were a disappointment.

    Gerd Kanter (born May 6, 1979) is an Estonian discus thrower. He competed at the 2004 Olympics, but didn't reach the final. 2005 was his breakthrough year as he won silver medals at the World Championships and World Athletics Final, took home a victory in the European Cup and won the World University Games. He also threw more than 70 metres for the first time.

  30. Andriy Serdinov

    Andriy Serdinov, born November 17, 1982 in Luhansk, is a Ukrainian swimmer, who competed in the 2004 Olympics in various categories, and won the bronze medal in the 100m butterfly. Serdinov was also the world record holder in this event, which stood for approximately five minutes. He broke Michael Klim's mark during the semifinals of the World Championships in Barcelona, Spain, in 2003, only to have Michael Phelps break it in the next semifinal.

    Michael Anti (born August 2, 1964) is an American sport shooter, a Major in the U.S. Army, and a marksman in the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. At the 2004 Summer Olympics he won a silver medal in the 50 m Rifle, Three positions event with 1,263.1 points. The event winner was China's Zhanbo Jia with 1,264.5 points.

  34. Masato Uchishiba

    is a Japanese judoka who won the gold medal in the men's under 66 kg division at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece. To win the Olympic gold, he defeated Jozef Krnac of Slovakia. Of winning the gold, he said, "I wanted this so badly I wouldn't have cared if it was my last fight ever," though his comments were officially translated as: "It is probably my last Olympics, that is why I am proud of my medal." He also won the silver in his division at the 2005 Judo World Championships.

    Anna Rogowska (born May 21, 1981 in Gdynia) is a Polish athlete competing in pole vault. She won the bronze medal at the 2004 Olympics. Rogowska narrowly beat Monika Pyrek, another pole vaulter from Gdynia. Early 2005 brought success as she won the silver medal in the European Indoor Championships. On July 22 2005 in London, she achieved a personal best with 4.80 m, which was also the Polish record.

  40. Patricia Moreno

    Patricia Moreno (born January 7 1988 in Madrid) is a Spanish artistic gymnast. Moreno began gymnastics in 1995 and admires Romanian Simona Amanar. She took Spanish Women's Artistic Gymnastics first ever Olympic medal in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, where she was third on floor with score of 9.487. During the Olympics, Moreno also debuted a 3 and a 1/2 twist on floor, a move which is now named after her. Moreno has also performaed a quadruple twist.
