  1. Joseph Stamm

    Dr. Joseph Stamm joined the University of Rochester's Department of Ophthalmology faculty as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in May 2001 after being in private optometric practice in Rochester for 19 years. A second generation optometrist, Dr. Stamm's practice specialized in contact lenses and caring for patient suffering eye problems related to the use of computers. With the StrongVision team, Dr. Stamm provides pre- and post-operative care to refractive surgery patients.

  2. Brian M. Cohen

    Dr. Cohen is a member of: Pennsylvania Optometric Association New Jersey Optometric Association American Optometric Association American Academy of Optometry Dr. Cohen has dedicated most of his career to refractive surgery, working with thousands of patients who have had laser vision correction and lecturing frequently on the topic. He has also published several articles on laser vision correction in peer-reviewed journals.

  3. Tracy Schroeder Swartz

    Dr. Swartz graduated from the Indiana University School of Optometry in 1994, and pursued a Master's degree while serving as faculty at the IU School of Optometry. During this time, she did research, published and lectured in the areas of glaucoma, cornea and contact lenses, pediatrics and strabismus.   Dr. Swartz was awarded the Glen Fry Award for research in 1998.

  4. Marc R. Bloomenstein

    Dr. Marc R. Bloomenstein is a 1990 graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles with a degree in Biology. He received his optometric degree from the New England College of Optometry in 1994. After graduation, Dr. Bloomenstein finished a residency in secondary ophthalmic care at the Barnet Dulaney Eye Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

  5. Desmond Fonn

    Desmond Fonn, OD, FAAO is a Professor and Director of the Centre for Contact lens Research at the School of Optometry, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. He is a graduate of the School of Optometry in Johannesburg, South Africa and the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia where he also served as a consultant for the Cornea and Contact Lens Research Unit.

  8. Leo Semes

    Leo Semes received his doctorate from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Following graduation he served a one-year fellowship in Primary Care at the Eye Institute of PCO. Dr. Semes then joined the faculty at UAB. Currently, he is associate professor and director of continuing education. He has received AOSA’s excellence in teaching award on three occasions as well UAB President’s award for teaching excellence.

  9. George William Sullins

    Dr. William David Sullins , Jr. (Rear Admiral USN, Ret.) , age 62, loving husband, father, grandfather, devoted optometrist and serviceman died peacefully Sunday morning, February 6, 2005, at Baptist West Hospital in Knoxville. A lifelong resident of Athens, he graduated from McMinn County High School in 1960. He attended Tennessee Wesleyan College and the Southern College of Optometry.

    Lyndon Jones , PhD, FAAO Professor - University of Waterloo Lyndon Jones is a Professor at the School of Optometry and Associate Director of the Centre for Contact Lens Research. He is also cross-appointed to the Departments of Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Waterloo and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at McMaster University, Ontario.

    Dr. Moon is in practice as a principal partner with Nittany Eye Associates in State College, PA. She is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Moon has been a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Mid-Counties Optometric Society (MCOS) since 1978. She has served as vice-president and president of MCOS.

  15. Rosemary Melrose

    Dr. Melrose has served on the faculty of the University of California Berkeley, School Of Optometry as an Assistant Clinical Professor for over 13 years. He taught on the Berkeley campus for 10 years and since has founded and co-directs a refractive surgery rotation for the optometric interns from UC Berkeley specializing in the post-operative care and management of LASIK and PRK patients - Dr Melrose has managed the care of over 4,000 laser refractive surgery cases since 1994.

  16. Paulette Schmidt

    Dr. Paulette Schmidt received the Doctor of Optometry degree in 1973 and the M.S. degree in Physiological Optics in 1976 from The Ohio State University. Currently, she is tenured as a Professor of Optometry and Vision Science in the College of Optometry at Ohio State and a member of the Graduate Faculty of the University. Her research and teaching interests are centered on vision testing in infants and children, particularly pediatric vision screening.

  17. Carolyn Hall

    Dr. Hall finished her undergraduate work at Bellarmine College and received her Doctor of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry. She was on the Dean’s list for academic achievement 4 years, and received outstanding clinician award 3 years. Dr. Hall has a manuscript pending publication on the effects of the menstrual cycle of the tear film. She is a member of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Hall joined Dr. Black in practice in 1993.

  18. Mark Swan

    Mark Swan, OD, MEd, FAAO Dr. Swan is a professor at the Michigan College of Optometry, located at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. , where he serves as chief of pediatrics and binocular vision services. He is also the chief of optometry at St. Mary’s Mercy Medical Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.

  19. Nancy Peterson-Klein

    Nancy Peterson-Klein , O.D., F.A.A.O., is the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs at the Michigan College of Optometry. She is also Director of External Clinical Rotations. Dr. Peterson-Klein earned her doctorate in optometry from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 1969. She has been a faculty member at OSU from 1969 to 1977 with faculty responsibilities in the areas of binocular vision and rehabilitative vision.

  20. Michael T. Cron

    Michael T. Cron , OD, FAAO Dr. Cron is a Professor at the Michigan College of Optometry. After earning his doctorate in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Cron established a private practice in Spring Lake, Michigan before coming to MCO as a full time educator. His teaching, clinical, and research interests are in the areas of pediatric vision, vision development, learning related vision problems, and vision therapy.

After working at the NOOR Eye Hospital, Kabul Afghanistan, he completed his training in private practice and at the Department of Contact lenses and Prosthetics, Moorfields Eye Hospital, London.

  22. Carolyn J. Martin

    Dr. Carolyn Martin is a residency-trained optometrist who provides comprehensive optometric care. Her educational background and experience working with ophthalmology have fostered her special interest in the management of ocular disease. Dr. Martin received her B.S. in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She earned her Doctorate in Optometry and a Master's degree in Vision Science from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

  23. John J. Pole

    John J. Pole, OD, MS, FAAO John J. Pole, O.D., M.S., is a professor at the Michigan College of Optometry. He earned his doctorate in optometry from the Ohio State University College of Optometry. He later completed a combined M.S. and clinical residency in cornea and contact lenses at the same institution. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

  24. Jon Hayashida

    Jon Hayashida , OD, FAAO — Vice President, Clinical Affairs Dr. Hayashida heads up the Clinical Affairs team at Refractec, and is responsible for collection and analyzing of all clinical data, as well as tracking and reporting the performance of the FDA investigator team. Dr. Hayashida has served as a clinical investigator on numerous FDA studies for contact lens and solution manufacturers.

    W. Reynolds Sisson , O.D., F.A.A.O. W. Reynolds Sisson , B.S., O.D., F.A.A.O., received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1973. He has practiced independent optometry in Newport since September of 1973. He was awarded fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry in 1980.

  26. Renée Mika

    Dr. Renée Mika is an Associate Professor at the Michigan College of Optometry (MCO). After earning her doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry (2000), Dr. Mika worked in private practice for several years. She completed a Post-Doctoral Teaching Fellowship at MCO with a focus in community health and cornea and contact lenses, prior to joining the faculty in 2004. Dr. Mika teaches public health, clinical procedures, and environmental vision.

  27. Janna Zbozien

    Janna Zbozien , OD Janna Zbozien , OD graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in biology. She received her doctorate from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. While attending SCO, she served as class vice-president and received an award for outstanding fourth-year clinician. Dr. Zbozien completed her residency in Hospital-Based Primary Care at the James H. Quillen Veterans Administration Hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee.

  28. Tricia Burroughs

    Dr. Tricia Burroughs graduated from Marysville High School in Marysville, Ohio in 1993. She attended Ohio University and graduated cum laude with a degree in biological sciences in 1997. Dr. Burroughs then received her O.D. degree from The Ohio State University College of Optometry in 2000. After graduation, she completed a one-year ocular disease residency at the Dayton Veterans Administration Medical Center.

  29. Etty Bitton

    Etty Bitton , BSc, OD, MSc, FAAO Associate Professor - Université de Montréal Etty Bitton is a graduate of the University of Waterloo where she received a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree in 1988. She received her master's (M.Sc.) degree in Physiological Optics in 1994 from the École d´Optométrie, Université de Montréal in the area of tear film clinical physiology and its relevance in patients exhibiting dry eye.

  30. Peter Herse

    Dr Peter Herse - DipAppSc, PhD, FAAO Dr. Peter Herse practiced optometry for a number of years in Australia and Kenya. He entered academic life in 1984 and has held appointments in a number of optometry schools around the world, the most recent being as Senior Lecturer at the University of NSW. He has been a Councillor for the Optometrists Association of Australia. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and has a strong interest in international eye care.

She received her undergraduate degree with honors from Tulane University and earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from the State University of New York College of Optometry – where she graduated first in her class.Dr. Strier completed her Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Baltimore.

  32. David A. Rosenbloom

    Dr. David A. Rosenbloom Dr. Rosenbloom attended the University of Pittsburgh in 1964 and then graduated from The Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1970. He spent 2 years in the Army at Ft. Rucker, Alabama before joining Dr. Michael Friedberg in 1972. He has held numerous offices within the profession, including President of the Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society and President of the Pennsylvania Optometric Association.

  33. Edward M Takahashi

    Dr. Takahashi graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Victoria in 1986 and his Doctor of Optometry degree from Pacific University in Oregon in 1989. He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and is recipient of the Irvin M. Borish award from the AOA Foundation for his comparative study of the Goldmann Applanation Tonometer. He has also been recognized by London Eye Centre for his dedication to laser refractive surgery patient care.

  34. Angela Berghoff

    Dr. Angela Berghoff Dr. Angela Berghoff is a graduate of The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio earning her B.S. in Biology. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree from Indiana University, and completed a primary eye care residency specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases at the Tuscaloosa Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Dr. Berghoff is excited to be working with St.Vincent in the new StylEyes office.

  36. Keith Tyhurst

    Dr. Keith Tyhurst is a 2006 graduate of the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry. As a student, he completed clinical externships at Washington University, the Marion Illinois Veteran’s Affairs Hospital, and various low income clinics. Dr. Tyhurst then completed a Primary Care Optometry Residency at the Harry S Truman Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Columbia, Missouri in June of 2007.

  37. Matthew Austen

    Matthew Austen read Optometry at Aston University and qualified in 1997. During his qualifying year he worked alongside Mr Andrew Field, Secretary of the British Chapter of the American Academy of Optometry. Matthew Austen joined the practice in 1997, and has since specialised in helping dyslexic patients, using colour filters and the Intuitive Colorimeter. From 1997 - 1998 he was a Clinical Instructor at Aston University.

  38. Michael Gallaway

    Dr. Michael Gallaway received a bachelor of science degree from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1976. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in 1980. After completing optometry school he completed a one year post-graduate residency in pediatrics at The Eye Institute. Since completing his residency in 1981 he has been a member of the professional staff of The Eye Institute.

  39. Annie Hu

    Dr. Annie Hu Dr. Annie Hu completed her undergraduate education in 1997 at UC Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Cell Biology. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2002. Dr. Hu completed a year of postgraduate (fellowship) training, with an emphasis on Contact Lenses, at the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA.

  40. Lowell H. Lebovitz

    Dr. Lowell H. Lebovitz Dr. Lebovitz received his Bachelor�s degree from Denison University in 1980 and his Doctorate in Optometry from The Illinois College of Optometry in 1984. He experienced advanced training in both visual training and Low vision at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind while in Chicago and then joined The Vision Center in 1984.
