  2. Charles Haskins Townsend

    Charles Haskins Townsend, Sc.D. was an American zoölogist, born at Parnassus, Pennsylvania. From 1897 to 1902 he was connected with the United States Fish Commission, serving as chief of the fisheries division. He then served as director of the New York Aquarium at Castle Garden, from 1902 until his retirement in 1937. He wrote extensively on fisheries, whaling, fur seals, deep-sea exploration and zoology.

    Richard McBride is a Research Scientist at the Fish & Wildlife Research Institute ( research.myfwc.com/ ). FWRI is the research division of the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). As a scientist for the State of Florida, McBride's research focuses on the biology and ecology of marine and diadromous fishes. His specialty is age, growth, and reproduction of bony fishes (teleosts).

Jay's work as a fisheries scientist within Oregon agencies included the Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Governor's Office, and the Watershed Enhancement Board.

    Ralph Stearley has broad interests in the history of Earth and its life. At Calvin, he teaches historical geology, paleontology, oceanography, and stratigraphy, as well as participating in teaching introductory geology. He has also taught introductory geology during the summer to students at the Au Sable Institute for Environmental Studies and for Wheaton College's field station in the Black Hills of South Dakota.

    Peter Paquet Manager, Wildlife and Resident Fish Peter Paquet has been on the Council staff since 1983. In 2007 he was appointed the Acting Director of the Fish and Wildlife Division. Initially, Peter was responsible for the water budget and Council dealings with FERC. He was lead staffer in the development of protected areas and is currently taking the lead in wildlife mitigation planning.

    Mr. David Whitehurst is the Director of the Wildlife Diversity Division of the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. During his 30 year career as a fish and wildlife biologist he has held several positions involving fisheries, including Director of the Fisheries Division. He also served as the Deputy Director of Operations and the Director of Planning, Policy and Public Relations.

  32. Daryl C. Parkyn

    Dr. Parkyn joined UF Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences in 1999 and is currently a Research Assistant Professor. His interests include the sensory and environmental physiology of aquatic organisms, as well as fish behavior with respect to migration and predator-prey detection. He is involved in several studies of movements, diet and tolerances of Gulf of Mexico sturgeon.

  33. Jack R. Snow

    Jack R. Snow graduated from Auburn University earning a B.S. Degree in 1942 and a M.S. Degree in 1948. He started his fisheries career in 1950, when he joined the U.S. Bureau of Sport Fisheries and Wildlife. His assignment was at the Marion, Alabama National Fish Hatchery and Training School, where he served as Director until 1974 when he retired. He joined the Auburn University Fisheries Department serving until 1983.

  34. John Emil Halver

    John Emil Halver is reverently known by fish nutrition scientists throughout the world as "The Father of Fish Nutrition", being the first scientist during the 1950's to make fish nutrition a science. In 1949, Dr. Halver showed vitamin B12 was the fish anti-anemic factor H, which enabled the formulation of the test diets to classify and quantitate vitamin, protein, amino acid and fatty acid requirements of fish.

    George H. Jerome was born in 1819 in Pompey, New York and attended Hamilton College where he earned a Law Degree. He moved to Michigan, practiced Law, eventually moving to Chicago, Iowa and back to Michigan. Upon returning to Michigan, Jerome actively pursued legislation to establish a Michigan Fish Commission. He was appointed to the Commission, then was persuaded to resign and become Michigan's first Fishery Superintendent.

  37. Denby S. Lloyd

    Lloyd has a long and distinguished career in Alaska fish and game management and research. He has worked in numerous positions at ADF&G, most recently serving a second appointment as the department’s director for the Division of Commercial Fisheries. He has served at ADF&G and other resource management agencies in Alaska since 1974. Lloyd is a graduate from the University of Alaska Fairbanks with degrees in biological science and biological oceanography.

    Dr. Trent Sutton is an Associate Professor of Fisheries Biology at Purdue University, where he has been a faculty member since May 2001. In the five years prior to arriving at Purdue University, Trent served as Assistant Professor of Fisheries Biology in the Department of Biology and Director of Fisheries Research and Culture for the Aquatic Research Laboratory at Lake Superior State University.

  39. Eric Brinkman

    Eric Brinkman - Vice-President Eric is a M.S. student in the Department of Zoology at OSU. He is working on a project studying the distribution and ecology of alligator gar in Oklahoma. Prior to moving to Stillwater, Eric worked as a Research Biologist for Layher BioLogics, RTEC, Inc. in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for a year and a half. He received his B.S. in Biology, in the Fisheries and Wildlife Program at Arkansas Tech University, Russellville, AR in 2003.

  40. David C. Haskell

    David C. Haskell started his fisheries career as a summer employee at Warrensburg, New York, State Fish Hatchery. After receiving a BS Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1930, he worked with General Electric until terminated by the depression. In 1933 he returned to fisheries as a Hatchery Manager and continued until retirement in 1970. During this period he published many papers principally on fish-cultural methods.
