1. Jeremy Wariner

    Jeremy Wariner (born January 31, 1984 in Irving, Texas) is an American track athlete. He is a graduate of Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas. Height: 1.83m (approx. 6') He won the gold medal in 400 meters the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, heading an American clean sweep. The USA also won the gold medal in the 4x400m with Jeremy Wariner running the third leg. He is known for wearing sunglasses for all of his races, regardless if it is sunny or not.

  2. Darold Williamson

    Darold Williamson (born February 19, 1983 in San Antonio, Texas) is an American track athlete. He ran the anchor leg on the gold medal winning 4x400 meter relay team at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He is 2005 graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where he won the Big 12 Conference championship in the 400 meter run three years in a row (2001-2003).

  3. Jamie Nieto

    Jamie Nieto (born 2 November 1976) is an American high jumper. His personal best jump is 2.34 meters, achieved at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. Jamie Nieto attended Eastern Michigan University.

  4. Maria Cioncan

    Maria Cioncan (June 19 1977 - January 21 2007) was a middle distance runner from Romania, best known for winning a bronze medal in the 1500 metres event at the 2004 Summer Olympics. Born in Maieru, she set personal bests in both 800 and 1500 metres during the games. Her 2005 season was abbreviated, and the only notable competition was the SPAR European Cup in Firenze, Italy where she won the 800 (2:00.88) and placed second in the 1500 (4:07.39).

  5. Enefiok Udo-Obong

    Enefiok Udo-Obong (born May 22, 1982) is a Nigerian sprinter who has won a bronze medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 Olympics as well as a gold medal in the same event at the 2000 Olympics.

  6. Irina Khabarova

    Irina Khabarova (born March 18, 1966) is a Russian sprinter who won the silver medal in 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2004 Olympics and a bronze medal in the same event at both the 2002 and 2006 European Championships.

  7. Yunaika Crawford

    Yunaika Crawford Rogert (born November 2, 1982) is a Cuban hammer thrower who won the Olympic bronze medal in 2004 with a personal best throw of 73.16 metres. She competed at the 2005 World Championships, but fell through in the qualification round.

  8. Anastasia Kelesidou

    Anastasia Kelesidou (born November 28, 1972 in Hamburg, Germany) is a retired Greek discus thrower best known for winning silver medals at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics. During her career she set seven Greek records in discus throw, the best being 67.70 metres. Her only international victory came at the 1997 Mediterranean Games.

  9. Muna Lee

    Muna Lee (born October 30, 1981) is an American sprinter. She competed in 200 metres at the 2004 Summer Olympics, she made it to the final and tied for last. She won a gold medal in 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics.

  10. Eliud Kipchoge

    Eliud Kipchoge (born November 5 1984 in Kapsisiywa, near Kapsabet) is a Kenyan 5000 metres runner. He won a gold medal at the 5000m final of the 2003 World Championships, beating runner-up Hicham El Guerrouj by four hundredths of a second, by 12:52.79 and 12:52.83. He won a bronze medal at the 5000m final of the 2004 Athens Olympics, behind Hicham El Guerrouj and Kenenisa Bekele. He also won the bronze in the 3000 metres indoor at the 2006 World Championships in Moscow.

  11. Olesya Krasnomovets

    Olesya Krasnomovets (born July 8, 1979) is a Russian athlete. Specializing in the 400 metres, she won a silver medal at the 2004 IAAF World Indoor Championships. In addition, she won the silver medal in 4 x 400 metres relay at the 2004 Olympics and a gold medal in the same event at the 2005 World Championships. At the IAAF World Indoor Championships 2006 in Moscow she won the Gold Medal for 400 metres women with a winning time of 50.04 seconds.

  12. Hrysopiyi Devetzi

    Hrysopiyi Devetzi (born January 2, 1976) is a Greek athlete competing in the triple jump and also long jump. She won the triple jump silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics with a personal best of 15.32 metres. She won another silver medal at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg.

  13. Rutger Smith

    Rutger Smith (born July 9, 1981 in Groningen) is a Dutch athlete competing in shot put and occasionally discus throw. At the 2000 World Junior Championships he won medals in both events, and he competed in both events at the 2004 Olympics. In 2005 he won silver medals in shot put at the European Indoor Championships and World Championships.

  14. Tim Mack

    Timothy ("Tim") Mack (born September 15, 1972 in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American pole vaulter who became Olympic champion in 2004. The same year he won the 2nd IAAF World Athletics Final with the result 6.01 m, thereby joining the exclusive "6 meters club" of pole vaulters who reached 6 meters. He is a graduate of St. Ignaitus High School, in downtown Cleveland. He also appeared as Captain Planet at a banquet in May of 2007.

  15. Wu Tao

    Wu Tao (born 3 October 1983 in Liaoning) is a Chinese discus thrower. He won the 2002 World Junior Championships and the 2003 Summer Universiade and finished seventh at the 2005 Summer Universiade. On the regional level he won the 2003 Asian Championships and the 2002 Asian Games. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2005 World Championships without reaching the finals. His personal best throw is 64.28 metres, achieved in May 2005 in Chongqing.

  16. Torri Edwards

    Torri Edwards (born January 31, 1977) is an American sprinter. She was a rising young star in 100 and 200 metres, winning an Olympic medal in 4x100 metres relay in 2000. In 2003 she won six medals in major international competitions, including one World Championship gold. It later turned out that she had used the banned substance nikethamide. She was banned for two years effective from July 18, 2004, missing the 2004 Summer Olympics.

  17. Boniface Kiprop

    Boniface Kiprop (born October 12, 1985 in Kapchorwa) is a track and field athlete from Uganda, who competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics for his native African country. There he finished fourth in the final of the 10,000 metres. He again finished fourth at the 2005 World Championships, but won a silver medal over 5000 metres at the 3rd IAAF World Athletics Final. In 2006 he won the 10,000 metres race at the Commonwealth Games.

  18. Mitsuhiro Sato

    Mitsuhiro Sato (born 8 January 1980) is a Japanese sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. He finished fourth in 4x400 m relay at the 2004 Olympic Games, together with teammates Yuki Yamaguchi, Jun Osakada and Tomohiro Ito. Sato also competed at the World Championships in 2003 and 2005. His personal best time is 45.50 seconds, achieved in June 2003 in Yokohama.

  19. Esko Mikkola

    Esko Olavi Mikkola (born 14 February 1975 in Tampere) is a Finnish javelin thrower. He won a silver medal at the 2003 Summer Universiade in Daegu and finished eleventh at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. His personal best throw is 84.27 metres, achieved in July 2004 in Nokia.

  20. Irina Yatchenko

    Irina Yatchenko (born October 31, 1965 in Gomel) is a Belarusian discus thrower best known for two Olympic bronze medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics and 2004 Summer Olympics. She became world champion in 2003. Her personal best is 69.14m. Yatchenko is married to Igor Astapkovich, a hammer thrower.

  21. Gert Thys

    Gert Thys (born November 12, 1971 in Prieska) is a long-distance runner from South Africa, who represented his native country in the men's marathon at the 2004 Summer Olympics in 2004 (Athens, Greece). Employed as a security officer, Thys was the African record holder in the marathon. He became the first man to run three marathons sub 2:08 and to run two sub 2:08 marathons in one year (1998).

  22. Zhang Shujing

    Zhang Shujing (born 13 September 1978) is a Chinese long-distance runner. She finished 12th in the marathon at the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2003 World Championships. She also won the Asian Marathon Championships in 2002 and 2004. Her personal best times are 15:34.54 minutes over 5000 metres (2001), 1:12:46 hours in the half marathon (2003) and 2:23:17 hours in the marathon (2002).

  23. Maurice Wignall

    Maurice Wignall (born April 17, 1976) is a Jamaican hurdling athlete. His first appearance in a major international championship was at the 1997 World Championships, where he competed in the long jump competition without reaching the final. He jumped 8.09, which still stands as his personal best. Wignall's success in hurdling came relatively late. He took his first medal, a bronze medal, at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

    Mariya Koroteyeva (born 10 November 1981) is a Russian athlete who specializes in the 100 metres hurdles. Her personal best time is 12.60 seconds, achieved during the Olympic Games in Athens.

  25. Tomohiro Ito

    Tomohiro Ito (born 16 August 1982) is a Japanese sprinter who specializes in the 400 metres. He finished fourth in 4x400 m relay at the 2004 Olympic Games, together with teammates Yuki Yamaguchi, Jun Osakada and Mitsuhiro Sato. His personal best time is 45.63 seconds, achieved in October 2003 in Fukuroi.

  26. Alice Matejková

    Alice Matejková is a Spanish discus thrower. She formerly represented her birth country of the Czech Republic. She finished seventh at the 1986 World Junior Championships and eighth at the 2002 IAAF World Cup. She competed at the World Championships in 1991, 1993 and 1997 as well as the Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004 without reaching the final. Her personal best throw is 62.66 metres, achieved in June 1997 in Kladno.

  27. Yelena Kashcheyeva

    Yelena Kashcheyeva (born 17 February 1973 in Zhambyl Province) is a Kazakhstani long jumper. Her most successful year was 2002, when she won a bronze medal at the Asian Games and a gold medal at the Asian Championships in Colombo. In 2004 she reached the long jump final at the Olympic Games, finishing twelfth. She also competed at the World Championships in 1999, 2001 and 2003 without ever reaching the final. Her personal best is 6.76 metres, achieved in May 1998 in Bishkek.

  28. Mounir Yemmouni

    Mounir Yemmouni (born 12 October 1983 in Ouirine, Morocco) is a French middle distance runner who specializes in the 1500 metres. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2005 World Championships without reaching the finals. At the end of 2005 he finished eleventh in 3000 metres at the World Athletics Final. In 2006 he competed at the World Indoor Championships and the European Championships, again without reaching the finals.

  29. Margus Hunt

    Margus Hunt is an Estonian athlete who specializes in the discus throw and to a lesser extent shot put. He is the current world junior record holder in discus throw. Hunt grew up in the small town Karksi-Nuia, and took up athletics because "there wasn’t much to do". After trying decathlon he decided to concentrate on the throwing events – discus, shot and hammer throw.

  30. Olga Chernyavskaya

    Olga Chernyavskaya, née Davydova, then Burova is a Russian discus thrower best known for winning the gold medal at the 1993 World Championships. Her best Olympic performance is 5th place in 1992, and she even competed in 2004 at the age of 41. Her personal best is 68.38m, achieved in 1992.

  31. Mariana Solomon

    Mariana Solomon is a Romanian triple jumper. Her personal best jump is 14.42 metres, achieved at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens (this was not enough to progress from the qualifying round). The result places her fifth on the all-time Romanian performers list, behind Rodica Mateescu, Adelina Gavrilă, Cristina Nicolau and Mihaela Gândila.
