Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Ryder attended the University of Toronto, where she began acting. She formed a local theatre group, Bald Ego Productions, in Toronto after graduation and landed her first film and television roles in the mid-1990s.

    Jason Strudwick (born July 17, 1975 in Edmonton, Alberta) is a professional ice hockey defenceman currently who currently plays for the New York Rangers. He is a cousin of the NHL players Scott and Rob Niedermayer. Strudwick was drafted in the 3rd round, 63rd overall by the New York Islanders in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. He played his first NHL game with the Islanders against the Hartford Whalers on March 30, 1996.

    Shirley Thomas was born in Edmonton, Alberta. She began painting as a child, later taking workshops and lessons whenever she could. Shirley graduated from the University of Alberta and also holds a degree in music from Toronto, Ontario. She has been painting seriously since 1974. Shirley tries to paint everyday, if possible. Her art is very diverse; she works with a variety of materials, including oils, watercolors, mixed media and collage.
