  1. Bruce Jentleson

    Bruce Jentleson is a professor of Public Policy and Political Science at Duke University, where he served from 2000-2005 as Director of the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy. From 1999-2000, he served as senior foreign policy advisor to Vice President Al Gore and the Gore-Lieberman presidential campaign. Prior to coming to Duke, Jentleson was a professor at UC-Davis.   2. Kwame Anthony Appiah

    Kwame Anthony Appiah was born in London (where his Ghanaian father was a law student) but moved as an infant to Ghana, where he grew up. He was educated at Cambridge University in England, where he took both BA and PhD degrees in philosophy. His dissertation explored the foundations of probabilistic semantics; once revised, these arguments were published by Cambridge University Press as Assertion and Conditionals .

  3. Robert A. Jarrow

    Robert A. Jarrow is the Ronald P. and Susan E. Lynch Professor of Investment Management at the Johnson Graduate School of Management, Cornell University. He graduated magna cum laude from Duke University in 1974 with a major in mathematics, received an MBA from Dartmouth College in 1976 with highest distinction, and in 1979 he obtained a PhD in finance from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology under Robert C. Merton.

  4. Kevin Lane Keller

    Kevin Lane Keller is the E. B. Osborn Professor of Marketing at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He is most notable for having authored "Strategic Brand Management" (Prentice Hall, 1998 & 2002), a widely-used text on brand management. He has published his research in the "Journal of Marketing", "Journal of Marketing Research", and "Journal of Consumer Research".

  5. John C. Sanford

    John C. Sanford (born in 1950) is an American applied horticultural geneticist. Sanford graduated in 1976 from the University of Minnesota with a BSc in horticulture. He then went to the University of Wisconsin where he received a MSc in 1978 and a PhD in 1980 on plant breeding and genetics. Between 1980 and 1986 Sanford was an assistant professor at Cornell University, and then from 1986 to 1998 he was an associate professor.

  6. Robert L. Cook

    Robert L. Cook (December 10 1952) is a computer graphics researcher and developer, and the co-creator of the RenderMan rendering software. Cook was born in Knoxville, Tennessee and educated at Duke University and Cornell University. He is now Vice President of Software Engineering at Pixar Animation Studios.

  7. Hans Neurath

    Hans Neurath (1909-2002) was a biochemist, a leader in protein chemistry and the founding chairman of the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle.

  8. Robert Coleman Richardson

    Robert Coleman Richardson (born June 26, 1937 in Washington D.C.) is an American physicist. He attended Virginia Tech and received a B.S. in 1958 and a M.S. in 1960. He received his PhD from Duke University in 1965. He is currently the Floyd Newman Professor of Physics and Vice Provost for Research at Cornell University, although he no longer operates a laboratory. His past experimental work focused on the study of physical phenomena at very low temperatures.

  9. Tom Harp

    Tom Harp was a college football coach at Cornell, Duke, and Indiana State. From 1961 to 1965, he coached at Cornell, where he compiled a 19-23-3 record. From 1966 to 1970, he coached at Duke, where he compiled a 22-23-1 record. From 1973 to 1977, he coached at Indiana State, he compiled a 20-31 record.

  10. David H. Sanford

    David H. Sanford is a professor of philosophy at Duke University. He specializes in perception and metaphysics. Sanford studied at Cass Technical High School, Oberlin College and at Wayne State University. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1966, taught at Dartmouth College from 1963 to 1970, and joined the Duke Faculty in 1970. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Michigan and the University of Oregon.

  11. Harlan James Smith

    Harlan James Smith (August 25, 1924-October 17, 1991) was an American astronomer. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia, the son of Paul and Anna McGregor Smith. While attending Wheeling High School he was named first runner up in the "Westinghouse National Science Talent Search". From 1943 until the end of World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, performing weather observation. Following the war he attended Harvard University, earning a B.A. in 1949.
