Starting in 1976, he took on the additional responsibilities for information technology leadership and became Director of Academic Computing and Central Computing Services in 1980.

He was latter manager of the Doe Run, KY, technical center and then plant manager at Doe Run for four years. He moved to Olin’s former headquarters in Stamford, CT in 1979 as director of electrochemicals. In 1985, he was named general manager for industrial chemicals and the following year was promoted to vice president, general manager, Industrial Chemicals.
