  2. Freman Hendrix

    Freman Hendrix was a 2005 mayoral candidate in Detroit. The son of an African-American Army veteran, Emmanuel Freman Hendrix and an Austrian-born woman, Rudolfine Ernegger, he was Deputy Mayor for former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer. He lost to incumbent Kwame Kilpatrick in the November 8 2005 election. In the August 2 primary election Hendrix outpolled Kilpatrick by a comfortable margin, with Kilpatrick coming in a solid second.

    George "The Iceman" Gervin (born April 27, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan) is a retired American professional basketball player; a shooting guard for the American Basketball Association's (ABA) Virginia Squires and San Antonio Spurs and the National Basketball Association's (NBA) San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. Gervin averaged at least 14 points in all 14 of his ABA and NBA seasons, and finished with an NBA career average of 26.2 points per game.

  5. Dennis M. Hertel

    Dennis Mark Hertel was a politician from the U.S. state of Michigan. Hertel was born in Detroit, Michigan, where he attended the public schools, graduating from Denby High School in 1967. He received a B.A. from Eastern Michigan University in 1971 and a J.D. from Wayne State University in 1974. He was admitted to the Michigan bar in 1975 and commenced practice in Detroit. He served in the Michigan House of Representatives, 1975–1980, representing the 12th district.

  6. Dean Rockwell

    Dean Rockwell (born 1912 in Cass County, Michigan; died August 8, 2005)was a World War II hero at the D-Day invasion of Normandy, an Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling coach, and a college football coach. After graduating from Eastern Michigan University (then called Michigan State Normal College) in 1935, Rockwell taught and coached track, wrestling and football at several Michigan high schools.

He played collegiately at Eastern Michigan University from 1995 to 1998. He earned All-Mid-American Conference first team honors in his junior and senior year.   16. Ingrid Sheldon

    Ingrid Blom Sheldon (b. 1945) was mayor of Ann Arbor, Michigan from 1993 to 2000. A moderate Republican, she served four two-year terms in the post.
