    Teitur (born Teitur Lassen 1977 in Hoyvík) is a singer-songwriter from the Faroe Islands. On March 3, 2007, he was awarded Best Male Singer at the Danish Music Awards. The word "teitur" is Old Norse and means "happy". In Modern Faroese, it is archaic but used as a male given name. Teitur started out in the Faroese pop/rock band Mark No Limits as its lead singer and songwriter.

    Rógvi Jacobsen is a Faroese football (soccer) striker for HB Tórshavn and the Faroe Islands national football team. Jacobsen is currently an amateur player who as of 2007 works as a carpenter, but played at the professional level for Icelandic team KR Reykjavík and Danish side SønderjyskE. He is known for having scored the only Faroese goal in the 1-2 home loss to then-World Champions Italy.

    Jens Martin Knudsen is a Faroese footballer who plays as a goalkeeper. He is now playing at NSÍ Runavík. He is famous for his 65 appearances for the Faroe Islands national football team and his penchant for wearing a white, wooly bobble hat. Despite being one of the weaker members of UEFA, the Faroe Islands pulled off one of the most famous upsets in soccer history beating then FIFA World Cup 1990 competitors Austria 1-0 in a UEFA 92 qualifier.

    Patrik Berger (born 10 November, 1973 in Prague) is a Czech football player. He is currently a midfielder for English Premiership team Aston Villa, having signed from Portsmouth on a free transfer on 1 June 2005. Patrik Berger began his career as junior with Sparta Prague in 1989 then he moved to the city rival Slavia Prague in 1991/92, and moved to Borussia Dortmund in 1995/96, with whom he won the Bundesliga title that year.

  14. Anfinn Kallsberg

    Anfinn Kallsberg is a Faroese politician - Prime Minister of his country 1998-2004 - and the leader of the Faroese People's Party ("Fólkaflokkurin"). First elected to the Faroese parliament in 1980 and consecutively since then, Kallsberg served as Fisheries Minister for 5 months in Jógvan Sundstein's first coalition government in 1989, and as Economics and Finance Minister from 1996 to 1998 in a coalition led by Edmund Joensen (Union Party).

    Andrius Skerla is a Lithuanian professional football defender, currently playing for Lithuanian A Lyga club FK Vėtra. He is 185 cm tall and weighs 74 kg. Skerla marked his 50th appearance for Lithuania on October 7, 2006 with a first international goal against the Faroe Islands. His former teams include FK Žalgiris Vilnius, PSV Eindhoven, Dunfermline Athletic and FC Tom' Tomsk.

    Full name Høgni Karsten Hoydal, commonly called Høgni Hoydal. He is a Faroese politician. Currently serving as member of the Faroese Parliament as well as the Danish one. Rasmussen studied in Norway, then returned to Tórshavn in the Faroes as music teacher and jazz pianist.     Julien Escudé is a French footballer, currently playing for La Liga side Sevilla FC. His position is centre back.     Høgni Lisberg is a musician currently living in Leirvík, Eysturoy, and is one of the most famous musician in the Faroe Islands. Høgni was born in 1982 and is son of Sørin Lisberg and Hallbjørg Eliassen. His father is son of Knút Lisberg, who is cousin to Jens Olivur Lisberg (1896-1920) where his great-grandfather (and Jens Olivurs uncle) lived Johan í Smiðjuni. Høgni lived together with his two younger sisters in Leirvík, where he grew up.

    Christian Lamhauge Holst (b. December 25, 1981) is a Danish/Faroese football player, currently playing for Lyngby Boldklub. In August 2003 he was selected for the Faroe Islands national team, being born to a Danish father and a Faroese mother. In 2004 he was named Profile of the Year in the Danish 2nd Division by the Danish Football Players Association (Spillerforeningen).

    Hans Hansen, called Hans í Mikladali (November 14, 1920 – March 8, 1970) from Mikladalur, Faroe Islands was a Faroese painter.   29. Zacharias Heinesen

    Zacharias Heinesen is a Faroese landscape painter. He is the son of the writer William Heinesen. He attended Myndlistaskóli Íslands in Reykjavik between 1957-58. In 1959-1963 he attended the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen. Through the years he has held a number of exhibitions and his paintings are to be found in several museums. In 1986 he was awarded the Henry Heerup prize.

  30. Henrik Pedersen

    Henrik Pedersen (born June 10, 1975) is a Danish professional football player who plays as a forward. He has played three games for the Danish national team and has recently left Bolton Wanderers after six years. Pedersen started his career with Danish club Silkeborg IF in 1995. He made his debut for the Danish national team in an August 2000 game against the Faroe Islands.

  31. Grímur Kamban

    Grímur Kamban was, according to the Færeyinga saga, the first man to set foot in the Faroe Islands. The name was written "Grímr" in Old Norse and is often referred to as "Grim" in the English literature. The saga says, he was a Norwegian Viking escaping the tyranny of the Norse king Haraldur Hárfagri. However, this is an error in this saga, because Harald's age was in the late 9th century, while the first norse settlers reached the Faroes after 825.

  32. Jørgen-Frantz Jacobsen

    Jørgen-Frantz Jacobsen occupies a distinct place in Scandinavian literature. He is the only Faroese writer to achieve international best-seller status. This status derives from his sole novel, "Barbara: Roman" (1939; translated, 1948), which has the added cachet of being one of the few Scandinavian novels to be translated twice into English within the space of fifty years. It was also adapted as a motion picture directed by Nils Malmros in 1997.

    Jón Rói Jacobsen is a Faroese football defender currently playing for Aalborg Boldspilklub. His previous clubs include HB Torshavn, Brøndby IF and BK Frem. Jacobsen has 25 caps for the Faroese national team.

  35. Terji Skibenæs

    Terji Skibenæs is the guitarist of the Faroese Viking Metal Band Týr. He was born in Tórshavn, but grew up in and currently lives in Skipanes on Eysturoy. When he was 13 and living in Denmark with his family, his older brother bought a guitar. Terji quickly got interested and learned a few chords from his brother. He then taught himself further by studying tablature books in the local library and playing along to his favourite guitarplayers.

  36. Niels Ryberg Finsen

    Niels Ryberg Finsen (December 15, 1860 - September 24, 1904) was a Faroese/Danish physician and scientist. In 1903 he became the first Danish Nobel laureate. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology "in recognition of his contribution to the treatment of diseases, especially lupus vulgaris, with concentrated light radiation, whereby he has opened a new avenue for medical science"

  38. Nólsoyar Páll

    Nólsoyar Páll (originally, Poul Poulsen Nolsøe is a Faroese national hero. Páll was a seaman, trader, poet, farmer, and boat builder. In Vágur in 1804 he built, as well as the schooner Royndin Fríða, the first ship capable of crossing the Atlantic Ocean since the Middle Ages. In 1809, with this ship he would travel to Britain and stock up on food supplies so as to ward off a famine in the islands.

  40. Ingálvur Av Reyni

    Ingálvur av Reyni was the most celebrated painter of the Faroe Islands during the last years. Ingálvur av Reyni was born in Tórshavn. He rebelled through his expressionism against the epic content of his predecessors' art, and has opened up new paths in his painting. His art is characterised by a clear, French colourist tone, and his artistic roots go back to Paul Cézanne and Henri Matisse.
