  1. Brian Boitano

    Brian Anthony Boitano (born October 22, 1963 in Mountain View, California) is an Italian-American figure skater from Sunnyvale, California. He is a four-time US National Champion (1985-1988), two-time World Champion (1986, 1988) and the 1988 Olympic gold medalist. He became a professional skater following the 1988 season, and once again in 1994.

  2. Christopher Bowman

    Christopher Bowman (born March 30, 1967 in Hollywood, CA) is an American figure skater. Known as "Bowman the Showman", he is a two-time U.S. National Champion. He is also a two-time medalist at the World Figure Skating Championships and competed in two Olympic Games. Before his skating career, he was a child actor. During his career, he was trained by Frank Carroll, Toller Cranston, and John Nicks.

  3. Debi Thomas

    Debi Thomas, (born March 25, 1967) is a figure skater and the first African American to win a medal at the Winter Olympics. Thomas won the 1986 U.S. National ladies' figure skating title and the Ladies' title at the 1986 World Figure Skating Championships, those achievements earned Thomas as the ABC's Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year that year. She represented the Crystal Springs Figure Skating club and was coached by Alex MacGowan.

  4. Katarina Witt

    Katarina Witt (born December 3, 1965) is a German figure skater, in Germany she was commonly affectionately called "Kati" in the past, but today her full name is used more often. She won two Olympic gold medals for East Germany, first in the 1984 Sarajevo Olympics and the second in 1988 at the Calgary Olympics. She won the World Championships in 1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988, and six consecutive European Championships (1983-1988).

  5. Kurt Browning

    Kurt Browning (born June 18, 1966) is a Canadian figure skater. Born in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and raised in Caroline, Alberta, Browning was a four-time Canadian figure skating champion and four-time World Champion. He represented Canada in three Winter Olympics, 1988 (finishing 8th overall), 1992 (6th) and 1994 (5th), and was given the privilege of carrying the Canadian flag during the opening ceremonies of the 1994 games in Lillehammer, Norway.

  6. Petr Barna

    Petr Barna (b. March 9, 1966, Prague) is a Czech figure skater. He competed for Czechoslovakia. He was the first man to land a quadruple jump in Olympic competition. Barna is 9-time Czechoslovakian champion. His best competitive year was 1992, when he won the European Championship and a bronze medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics. He turned professional after the 1992 World Championship. Professional skating did not agree with him, however.

  8. Peter Oppegard

    Peter Oppegard (born 1959) is an American figure skater and coach. With his partner Jill Watson, he won three U.S. championships and a bronze medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Oppegard initially paired with Vicki Heasley. He began competing with Watson in 1985. In their career, Watson and Oppegard won three national titles, a world bronze medal, an Olympic bronze medal, and various other medals. Oppegard later skated with Cindy Landry for a short time.

    Jill Watson (born 1963) is an American figure skater and coach. With her partner Peter Oppegard, she won three U.S. championships and a bronze medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics. Watson was initially paired with Burt Lancon, with whom she won two national bronze medals in 1983 and 1984. She began competing with Oppegard in 1985. In their career, Watson and Oppegard won three national titles, a world bronze medal, an Olympic bronze medal, and various other medals.

  13. Peter Johansson

    Peter Johansson is a former Swedish figure skater. He was a national champion and competed at the European Figure Skating Championships, the World Figure Skating Championships and the 1988 Winter Olympics. Johansson currently works as a coach at the Skating Club of Boston. With Mark Mitchell, he coaches many top-level skaters, including 2003 US National pewter medalist Scott Smith, and 2007 World Junior champion Stephen Carriere.

  16. Marina Kielmann

    Marina Kielmann was a German figure skater. She won the gold medal in ladies singles at the German Figure Skating Championships three times, from 1991 to 1993 and competed in the Winter Olympics in 1988 and 1992.     Susan "Susie" Wynne was an American figure skater. She competed in ice dance in the 1988 Winter Olympics with Joseph Druar. The pair won the gold medal at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships twice. She later competed with Russ Witherby. Since retiring from skating, she has worked as a television figure skating analyst for the Fox and ABC networks. She has also worked as a coach. She coached Ben Agosto early in his career.

  30. Genrich Sretenski

    Genrich Sretenski is a former Soviet ice dancer. With partner Natalia Annenko, Sretenski won the bronze medal at the 1986, 1987 and 1989 European Championships, the silver at the 1988 European Championships, and the silver at the 1986 World Championships. They came in fourth at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. After turning pro, Sretenski skated with Stars on Ice for four seasons.

    Suzanne Semanick was an American figure skater. She competed in ice dance at the 1988 Winter Olympics with Scott Gregory. The pair won the gold medal at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships twice. She later paired with Ron Kravette.

    Jill Trenary (born August 1, 1968) is an American figure skater. She was a 3-time U.S. champion and won the World Figure Skating Championships in 1990. Trenary was originally from Minnetonka, Minnesota. At the age of 16, she relocated to Colorado Springs, Colorado to train with noted coach Carlo Fassi. She won the U.S. junior title in 1985 and placed 5th in her first senior championships in 1986.

    Kira Valentinovna Ivanova (January 10 1963 — December 21 2001) was a figure skater from the former Soviet Union whose senior international career ran from 1979 to 1988. While she had won numerous medals at international events, such as World Junuior Championships, Enia Challenge Cup, and Moscow News Trophy, her true breakthrough on the international skating scene came with a bronze medal at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia.

    Sergei Vladilenovich Ponomarenko (born October 6, 1960) is a Russian figure skater in ice dancing. Ponomarenko trained at Spartak in Moscow. His skating partner and wife is Marina Klimova. His former partner was Tatiana Durasova. In addition to winning three World championships and four European Championships, Klimova and Ponomarenko are the only figure skaters in any discipline to have won Olympic medals in three different colors.

  35. Oleg Kimovich Vasiliev

    Oleg Kimovich Vasiliev is an Olympic and world pairs figure skating champion. Vasiliev was born in Leningrad, Russia, to parents Ludmila Konstantinovna Vasilieva and Kim Mihailovich Vasiliev. He was a sickly child, and his doctor recommended he get exercise and fresh air. Thus he began skating at age five, and his health improved greatly. As a single skater, Vasiliev won a Junior Nationals title. Later he became interested in pair skating.

    Peggy Schwarz is a German figure skater who competed in pairs. She first gained prominence skating with Alexander König. The duo captured a bronze medal at the 1988 European Figure Skating Championships and then won gold at the German Figure Skating Championships in 1992. The also competed in the Winter Olympics three times, finishing 7th in 1988, 1992, and again in 1994. Schwarz took a break from skating and gave birth to a son, Michel, in 1995.
