    Roy Quintin Echlin Evans CBE (born Bootle, Sefton, England, 4th October 1948) was a Liverpool football player who eventually rose through the coaching ranks to become team manager. An England international at schoolboy level, Evans was a defender who was a long way down the pecking order at Liverpool in the 1960s and 1970s - he also spent the summer of the 1973 in the North American Soccer League with the Philadelphia Atoms, where he was named a league second team all-star.

    Joseph Edward Benton, known as Joe Benton, (born 28 September 1933) British Labour Party politician and is the Member of Parliament for Bootle. Joe Benton was born in 1933 in Bootle and was educated at the St Monica's Roman Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Bootle and the Bootle Technical College. On leaving school in 1949 he received an apprenticeship as a fitter and turner. He entered National Service in 1955 with the Royal Air Force.

He was a member of the victorious Great Britain and Ireland 2001 Walker Cup team. Dougherty turned professional in 2001 and gained membership of the European Tour via the 2001 Qualifying School. He won the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year Award for 2002.

    James Mercer was a mathematician, born in Bootle, close to Liverpool, England. He was educated at Manchester University, and then Cambridge. He became a Fellow, saw active service at the Battle of Jutland in World War I, and after decades of suffering ill health died in London, England. He proved Mercer's theorem, which states that positive definite kernels can be expressed as a dot product in a high-dimensional space.

    Alan John Simpson (born 20 September 1948 in Bootle, Liverpool) is a British Labour politician and Member of Parliament for Nottingham South. Simpson came to Nottingham as a student, studying economics at Trent Polytechnic (now Nottingham Trent University). After graduating in 1972 he became a community worker, and later a research officer for the city's Racial Equality Council.

  15. Hughie McAuley

    Hughie McAuley (born January 8, 1953 in Bootle, Liverpool) was the Liverpool F.C. Reserves team coach for the 2005/06 season, working closely with Paco Herrera. He was previously coach of the Under-19 team working at the Liverpool F.C. Academy. He spent a number of years working full-time with the youth development team at Liverpool. He worked for the club from 1990. As a player McAuley signed for Liverpool in 1970, but made no first team appearances.
