    Matthew Carrington (November 10, 1983 - February 2, 2005), was a student at California State University, Chico, who was killed during a hazing incident at the Chi Tau fraternity house. The cause of death was water intoxication. Seven men (Richard Joseph Hirth, 23; Michael Fernandes, 20; Trent Stiefvater, 21; Gabriel John Maestretti, 22; Jerry Ming Lim, 25; Carlos James DeVilla Abrille, 22; and John Paul Fickes, 20) were charged in connection with his death.

    Elsie McLean (born 1904 in Chico, California) is a female golfer. On April 5, 2007, she became the oldest person to hit a hole-in-one on a regulation course at the age of 102. Her achievement, an estimated 100 yards, came at the on the par-3 hole 4, Bidwell Municipal Golf Course. She appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on May 5, 2007.

  27. Michael J. Gillis

    Michael Jerome Gillis was born in Walpole, Massachusetts, in 1949. In 1969 he attended Woodstock. In 1971, he earned a bachelor's degree in history from St. Bonaventure University in western New York. To avoid being drafted he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1972. Based in Thailand, he served as a Lieutenant on a B-52 where he acted as a navigator and bombardier during numerous missions over Vietnam. In 1976 he received an honorable discharge.
