- Håkan Mild
Håkan Mild is former a Swedish football midfielder and current director of sports of IFK Göteborg, his main club as player, with which he won four Swedish Championships. He was also part of the Swedish national team that finished third in the 1994 World Cup.
- Marcus Berg
Marcus Berg is a Swedish football striker. He is nicknamed "Svarte-Marcus" due to scoring a lot of goals in the junior teams, in reference to Filip 'Svarte-Filip' Johansson. After playing for a local club and Torsby IF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2003, a club he has played for since. His older brother Jonatan Berg also plays for the club.
- Niclas Alexandersson
Niclas "Alex" Alexandersson (born December 29, 1971 in Vessigebro) is a Swedish football midfielder. After starting his career with a local club he moved to Halmstads BK in 1987. He played for the team until 1995, when he joined IFK Göteborg, with whom he won the Swedish Championships and played in the UEFA Champions League. After one year in Gothenburg, he moved on to England, where he was signed for £750,000 by Ron Atkinson for Sheffield Wednesday.
- Pontus Wernbloom
Pontus Wernbloom is a Swedish football midfielder. After playing for a local club, he joined the youth team of IFK Göteborg in 2004, before being promoted to the senior team in 2005. He debuted for the Swedish U-21 team in 2006, scoring a goal in the 12th minute of the match. On 4 January 2007, he was picked for the Swedish national team's spring tour in South America, and he made his debut on 18 January against Ecuador.
- Jonas Olsson
Jonas Olsson is a Swedish football manager and former player. He currently manages IFK Göteborg together with Stefan Rehn. IFK Göteborg is also the club which he played for during his whole career, and where he won four Swedish Championships and played in the UEFA Champions League.
- Jesper Blomqvist
Jesper Blomqvist OBE (born February 5, 1974 in Tavelsjö, Västerbotten) is a Swedish ex-football player. Blomqvist was a talented winger, who was unfortunately injury prone. He was brought in as a back-up to Ryan Giggs by Manchester United from Parma A.C. of Italy in 1998. While at United, he helped the club to 3 major titles in 1998/99 - the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
- Stefan Rehn
Stefan Rehn is a Swedish football midfielder and football manager. After playing for a local club, he joined Djurgårdens IF and later English club Everton F.C. before returning to Sweden and IFK Göteborg in 1990 with which he won five Swedish Championships. He then moved to Swiss club Lausanne Sports before rejoining his old club Djurgårdens IF in 2000, winning another Championship in 2002 before retiring.
- Kim Källström
Kim Källström [kɪm 'ɕɛlˌstrœm] (born August 24, 1982 in Sandviken, Sweden) is a left-footed Swedish midfielder playing for the Swedish national team and Olympique Lyonnais. He has a powerful shot, which once knocked out his team-mate Andreas Isaksson during training prior to the 2006 World Cup. His nickname is "Kongo-Kim". He is also known for sporting a rather unique quiff.
- John Alvbåge
John Alvbåge [jɔn 'ɑlvboːgɛ] (born 10 August, 1982 in Torslanda, Gothenburg) is a Swedish professional football player, who is a goalkeeper for Viborg FF in the Danish Superliga. He has played two matches for the Sweden national football team and was selected for the Swedish squad at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. After playing for local club Torslanda IK, he joined Västra Frölunda IF and debuted in the Swedish Allsvenskan championship, only 18 years old.

Mattias Bjärsmyr is a Swedish football defender. After playing for a local club, Grimsås IF, and Husqvarna FF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2005.
- Jan Tauer
Jan Tauer is a German football defender, currently part of the Djurgårdens IF squad. He joined the club from Eintracht Braunschweig at the start of the 2007 season, and made his Allsvenskan debut for DIF against IF Brommapojkarna. He scored his first goal for Djurgården against IFK Göteborg when IFK-midfielder Niclas Alexandersson tried to clear the ball and hit Tauer in the back, which made the ball to bounce into the goal.
- Mikael Nilsson
Mikael Nilsson (born 28 September, 1968 in Falköping) is a former Swedish football defender. He played for a local club and IFK Falköping until 1987 when he moved to IFK Göteborg, where he stayed until he ended his active career in 2001 due to an eye injury. During these years, he played 609 first team matches, which is a club record. He also won six Swedish Championships with the club and played in several European competitions.
- Glenn Strömberg
Glenn Strömberg is a Swedish former footballer. He won the 1982 UEFA Cup with IFK Göteborg. Apart from Göteborg, he has also played for Benfica and Atalanta. He was voted Swedish footballer of the year, winning Guldbollen, 1985. Nowadays he lives with his family in Gorle near Bergamo, Italy and is a popular expert commentary at international football games for the Sveriges Television.
- Jonas Wallerstedt
Jonas Wallerstedt is a Swedish football striker. After playing for two local clubs, he joined IFK Norrköping in 1995 and then played five months for Russian club Torpedo-Metallurg (now FC Moskva) in 2003 until he moved back to Sweden and GIF Sundsvall. He was then bought by IFK Göteborg for the 2006 season. He has played for the Sweden national football team.
- Stefan Selakovic
Stefan "Sella" Selakovic is a Swedish football striker of Serbian descent. After playing for Varbergs GIF, he joined Halmstads BK and won Allsvenskan in 2000 and was the top scorer in Allsvenskan in 2001. He then joined Dutch club SC Heerenveen. He wasn't able to contiune to play as well as he had done in Sweden and in 2001 he decided to move back to Sweden. Instead of his earlier club Halmstads BK he chose to play for IFK Göteborg and signed a contract in 2005.

Adam Johansson is a Swedish football defender. After playing for two local clubs and Västra Frölunda IF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2005.
- Bengt Andersson
Bengt Andersson is a Swedish football goalkeeper. After playing for a two local clubs, GAIS, IK Brage, Örgryte IS and Spanish club Tenerife, he joined IFK Göteborg in 1998 and has been the club's first choice goalkeeper since. There was some speculation that he would retire after the 2006 season; however this seems to not be the case as Bengt appeared in the official IFK magazine stating that he will probably continue for at least three more years.

As a player, Nilsson played 116 times for Sweden, making him second only to Thomas Ravelli in international appearances for Sweden. He also won the UEFA Cup and played in the semi-finals of the World Cup, the European Championships, and the European Cup during a career lasting over two decades.

Martin Ericsson is a Swedish professional footballer, who plays as an attacking midfielder for Brøndby IF in the Danish Superliga. He has played four matches for the Sweden national football team. Born in Gustafs, he played for Swedish club Tunabro SK, before turning professional with IK Brage and IFK Göteborg. He debuted for the Swedish national team in the 0-3 loss to Norway on January 22, 2004.

Magnus Johansson is a Swedish football defender. After playing for a local club, he joined IFK Göteborg in 1990. He moved to Dutch club FC Groningen in 1999 before rejoining IFK in 2003. He was a member of the Swedish squad that competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. He is nicknamed "Ölme" after his first club.

Magnus Pehrsson, February 25, 1976, is a former Swedish football player who played for IFK Lidingö, IFK Göteborg, Djurgårdens IF and Bradford City A.F.C. He has been capped 119 times for Djurgårdens IF.
- Glenn Hysén
Glenn Ingvar Hysén was an outstanding defender who played for leading Dutch, Italian and English clubs and won 68 caps for Sweden. Hysén started his career with IFK Göteborg and quickly established himself as a tough and composed defender. He was Sweden's Footballer Of The Year in 1983 and his form earned him his first international caps and a move to PSV Eindhoven in Holland.

Thomas Olsson is a Swedish football midfielder. After playing for the local club Åtvidabergs FF, he joined IFK Norrköping in 1998 before moving to Swedish top club Malmö FF in 2002 with which he has won one Swedish championship. He moved on to IFK Göteborg before the 2006 season.
- Samuel Wowoah
Samuel Wowoah (born 17 June, 1976 in Lindesberg(?)) is a Swedish football striker/midfielder. Liberian descent. After playing for a local club he joined Örebro SK, he then played two years in lower divisions before joining Djurgårdens IF with which he won two Swedish Championships. He also played for Halmstads BK two seasons before moving to IFK Göteborg in 2005. He then left the club after the 2006 season.
- Erik Wahlstedt
Erik Wahlstedt is a Swedish football (soccer) player, currently representing Helsingborgs IF in the Allsvenskan championship. Previously he has played for IFK Göteborg and Esbjerg fB. The right-back and former forward was named in the Swedish national team squad for the Euro 2004 in Portugal. Previous clubs in his career include BK Astrio (1982-1993), IFK Göteborg (1994-1997), Helsingborgs IF (1997-2001), Esbjerg fB (2001-2004) and then again Helsingborgs IF (2004-).
- Peter Ijeh
Peter Ijeh is a Nigerian football striker currently playing for Viking F.K. in the Norwegian Premier League. After playing for clubs in Nigeria, he joined Swedish club Malmö FF in 2001. He was the top scorer in Allsvenskan in 2002 with 24 goals. In 2004, he transferred to IFK Göteborg as the club's big name signing for its 100th anniversary. He was, however, unable to repeat his earlier success and was generally considered a disappointment.

Jakob Johansson is a Swedish football midfielder. He became the first player born in the 1990s to have played in the top league of Sweden, Allsvenskan, on 27 June 2005 when he debuted for his club IFK Göteborg. He was brought to the Gothenburg club, together with the current IFK Göteborg manager Jonas Olsson, from FC Trollhättan. Jakob Johansson's first club was Trollhättans BoIS.

Daniel Mendes, pron., is a Brazilian football player who plays for AIK. He has previously played for Kalmar FF and Degerfors IF. Daniel scored in his first game for AIK with a header against IFK Göteborg (1-1), he is very quick but he is easily taken away from games by the opposition's defence in some games. In 2006, Mendes scored most goals per minute played for AIK. All of his goals were scored as a substitute, earning him a reputation as the squad's "super sub".

Andreas Andersson is a former footballer. He was capped 42 times and scored 8 goals for Sweden, and he played at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Injury problems caused him to retire on August 1 2005, but he stated that he would continue in football as a coach. During his career he was a goal-getting striker. In 1996 he won the Swedish league title and became league top scorer (19 goals) with IFK Göteborg.

- George Mourad
George Mourad is a Swedish football striker of Assyrian descent. After playing for Västra Frölunda IF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2004 and scored seven goals in his debut season in Allsvenskan. In 2005, he had a disappointing season with only three goals in Allsvenskan. He then signed a six month loan contract for Italian Serie B side Brescia on January 31, 2006. He has played for the Sweden national football team.
- Tommy Lycén
Tommy Lycén is a Swedish football midfielder. After playing for local clubs and Grimsås IF, he joined IFK Göteborg in 2005. The season 2006 he was on loan to Umeå FC in Superettan. He was sold to IF Brommapojkarna in late 2006 and will be playing with them in Allsvenskan, the highest division in Swedish football.
- Magnus Kihlberg
Magnus Kihlberg is a Swedish football midfielder. After playing for two local clubs, he joined Örgryte IS in 1995 before moving to Norwegian club Lillestrøm SK in 1997. He then moved on to Molde FK in 2002 before going back to Sweden and IFK Göteborg for the 2006 season. After just one season in Sweden he returned to Norway when he signed for Aalesunds FK in December 2006.
- Torbjörn Nilsson
Torbjörn Nilsson is a Swedish former football striker and coach. He is considered to be one of the best Swedish footballers of all time, having won the Swedish championship twice and the UEFA Cup once with IFK Göteborg, where he spent most of his career. He also had a less successful spell in the Netherlands with PSV Eindhoven and a better one in Germany with 1. FC Kaiserslautern. Nilsson has had various levels of success as a manager.
- Arne Erlandsen
Arne Erlandsen is a Norwegian football manager. He had relative success as a midfielder, having played for Lillestrøm S.K. and Swedish team Djurgårdens IF as well as 20 matches for Norway. He managed another Swedish team, IFK Göteborg, between November 2004 and September 2006. On November 13 Erlandsen was hired as head coach of Ham-Kam, that currently plays in the Norwegian Adeccoliga

- Eldin Karisik
Eldin Karisik is a Swedish-Bosninan football player, currently playing as a central midfielder for IFK Göteborg. He came to Sweden with his family when he was nine years old and in 2003 he was promoted to the senior team from the HIF youth academy. He has made several appearances for the Swedish U21 national team. In November 2006 he was transferred to IFK Göteborg after having been left out of the team regularly during the season.

The remarkable goal, a rabona kick from outside the penalty area, is by most experts seen as a candidate for the best goal of the year in Sweden.

He is known as a versatile player who runs a lot and whose headings are a fearful weapon for opponents. He has played for the Sweden national football team.
