    Tim Finin is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). He has over 30 years of experience in the applications of Artificial Intelligence to problems in information systems, intelligent interfaces and robotics and is currently working on the theory and applications of intelligent software agents, the semantic web, and mobile computing.   5. Geoff Walsham

    Geoff Walsham (born 1946 in Manchester), is an English scholar in the Social Study of Information Systems and IT in developing countries. He is credited with starting off interpretive research in the field of Information Systems through his book "Interpreting Information Systems in Organizations" (Wiley, 1993). After studying Mathematics at the University of Oxford, he worked as an operational researcher at BP, and later gained an MA at Warwick University.

  6. Clive Finkelstein

    Clive Finkelstein is acknowledged worldwide as the "Father" of Information Engineering (IE), having developed its concepts from 1976 - 1980 based on original work carried out by him to bridge from strategic business planning to information systems. He wrote the first publication on Information Engineering: a series of six InDepth articles by the same name published by US Computerworld in May - June 1981.

  7. Alan Smeaton

    Professor Alan Smeaton is an author and academic at Dublin City University. Among his accomplishments are founding TRECVID, the Centre for Digital Video Processing, and being a winner of the University President's Research Award in Science and Engineering 2002. Currently (2007), Prof. Smeaton also serves on the editorial boards for the ACM Journal on Computers and Cultural Heritage and the journal Foundations and Trends in Information Retrieval.

    Alan Mark Davis is Professor of information systems in the College of Business at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. Davis earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1975. He has held academic positions at George Mason University, University of Tennessee, and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

  9. Robert M. Hayes

    Robert M. Hayes (b. 1926) is Professor Emeritus and former dean of the School of Library Service (1974-1989), now the Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA. He jointly taught mathematics and information science. Hayes was twice president of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, formerly known as the American Documentation Institute (1962-1963 and 1967-1968).
