1. Ephraim Halevy

    Ephraim Halevy is an Israeli lawyer and intelligence expert. He was the ninth director of Mossad and the 2nd head of the Israeli National Security Council. Halevy was born in the United Kingdom to an established Orthodox Jewish family. He immigrated to Israel in 1948. He graduated (with commendation) as a certified lawyer. Between 1957-1961 he was the editor of the journal "Survery" (סקירה), published by the Chief Education Officer.

  3. Avraham Stern

    Avraham Stern, alias Yair was the founder and leader of the Zionist militant organization later known as Lehi which was also known as the "Stern Gang". Stern was born in Suwałki, Poland, immigrated to the British Mandate of Palestine in 1925, and studied in the Hebrew Gymnasium in Jerusalem, and afterwards in the Hebrew University on Mount Scopus. He specialized in Classic languages and literature (Greek and Latin).

  6. David Shaltiel

    David Shaltiel (1903-1969) is most well-known for being the district commander of the Haganah in Jerusalem during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. He was born into an Portuguese orthodox Jewish family in Hamburg. At 16, Shaltiel joined the Zionist youth movement Blau Weiss, and he went to Palestine in 1923. However, he was not happy there, and returned to Europe in 1925. From 1925-1930 he was enlisted in the French Foreign Legion. In 1934 he returned to Palestine.

  7. Guy Hever

    Guy Hever (born May 30, 1977) is an Israeli MIA who was long presumed dead since no group had ever claimed responsibility for his abduction. Hever, a member of the Israel Defense Forces went missing from his post in the southern part of the Golan Heights on August 17, 1997. No trace of him has been uncovered, nor explanation for his disappearance been forthcoming.

  8. Shaul Avigur

    Shaul Avigur (1899-1978) was a founder of the Israeli Intelligence Community. Avigur was born in Latvia under the name Saul Meyeroff{Meirovbut when his son Gur Meyeroff was killed in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, he changed it to Avigur, meaning "Father of Gur". Along with Reuven Shiloah, Avigur was instrumental in forming SHAI, the intelligence wing of the Haganah, in 1934.

  9. Yisrael Galili

    Yisrael Galili (10 February 1911-8 February 1986) was an Israeli politician and member of Knesset. Before Israel's independence in 1948, he had served as Chief of Staff of the Haganah. Galili was born in the town of Brailov in Poland (now Ukraine). His family immigrated to Palestine when he was three years old, and settled in Tel Aviv. Galili attended school there and apprenticed with a printer. Galili began his military career in 1927, when he enlisted in the Haganah.

  10. Ilan Ramon

    Ilan Ramon (June 20 1954 - February 1 2003;) was a combat pilot in the Israeli Air Force, and later the first Israeli astronaut. Ramon was the space shuttle payload specialist of STS-107, the fatal mission of "Columbia", where he and the other crew were killed in a re-entry accident over Texas. Ramon is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.

  11. Yonatan Netanyahu

    Yonatan "Yoni" Netanyahu or Jonathan Netanyahu, for his conduct in the Yom Kippur War. He was killed in action during Operation Entebbe at Entebbe airport, by Ugandan soldiers, where the Israeli military rescued hostages after an aircraft hijacking. He was the leader of the assault, and the only Israeli military casualty of the raid.

  12. Golan Cipel

    Golan Cipel was born in Tel Aviv, Israel in 1968, and grew up in the city of Rishon LeZion. He served in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) for five years as a naval officer, eventually rising to the rank of lieutenant. Following his service in the military, Golan held several positions in government. He began his career in 1992 as Parliamentary Aide in the Israeli Parliament, the Knesset, where he was responsible for policy formation, as well as the drafting of legislation.

  14. Amos Yarkoni

    Lieutenant Colonel Amos Yarkoni (born 1920, died 7 February 1991) was a legendary officer in the Israel Defense Forces and one of six Israeli Arabs to have received the IDF's third highest decoration, the Medal of Distinguished Service. He was the first commander of the Shaked Reconnaissance Battalion of the Givati Brigade.

  15. Avraham Yoffe

    Avraham Yoffe was a general in the Israeli Army during the Six-Day War. He commanded a troop division in Egypt during the attack on the Sinai Peninsula, through Wadi Haroudin, an area impassable to the Israeli tanks. His army captured the Bir - Lafhan junction, effectively preventing the Egyptian army from calling for reinforcements.

  16. Carmi Gillon

    Carmi Gillon (b. January 1950) is a former Israeli ambassador to Denmark and a former head of Shabak (often called Shin Bet), the Internal General Security Service of Israel. After the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, he attracted criticism for failing to provide adequate security. Carmi Gillon is currently the mayor of the Jerusalem suburb Mevasseret Zion and vice-president of external relations for the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Gillon headed Shabak from 1994 to 1996.

    Col. Binyamin Gibli was the head of Aman from 1950 to 1955. As head he was responsible for launching "Operation Suzannah", whose purpose was to keep the British in the Suez Canal by creating an environment of instability. After carrying out a number of non-fatal bombings, Egyptian authorities unraveled the plot, which clearly pointed to Israeli involvement. Known as the Lavon Affair, this failure forced Gibli to resign his post.

    Elchanan Tannenbaum, (born 12 August 1946) is an Israeli businessman and formerly a colonel in the Israel Defense Force. Tannenbaum's kidnapping was announced on 16 October 2000 by the Lebanese militant group Hizbullah after being lured out of Israel under the false pretenses of a drug deal. He was kidnapped in Dubai and taken to Lebanon. His abduction is believed to have been conducted by Imad Mugniyah, a senior member of Hezbollah.

    Amira Dotan (born 28 July 1947) is an Israeli military figure and member of Knesset from the Kadima party. Dotan served in the Israel Defense Force (IDF) from 1965 to 1988, ending her career as the Head of the Women's Corps, with the rank of Brigadier-General.     Imad Fares is an Israeli Druze, and is a Brig. General in the Israeli Defense Force. He won acclaim as the commander of the Givati Brigade (infantry) from 2001–2003. Fares is today the director of security of all Israeli military forces including the IDF, Border Guard, and police on the southern Israel-Egypt border.

  26. Zvi Brenner

    Zvi Brenner was an Israeli leader during World War II and the early days of the State of Israel. He trained under Orde Wingate and served alongside Moshe Dayan.     Motti Ashkenazi, a 33-year-old reserve captain in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), helped spark the movement that led to the resignations of Prime Minister Golda Meir and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan. He was the captain of Budapest, an Israeli outpost on the Suez Canal. This was one of the only IDF outposts that did not fall to the Egyptians in the Yom Kippur War.

  31. Yehudah Arazi

    Yehuda Arazi (1907-1959), code name "Alon", was a Polish Jew active in the Haganah paramilitary in Palestine and subsequently the Israeli Defense Force after the creation of the state of Israel. Arazi was born in Lvov in 1907. He immigrated with his parents to Tel Aviv in 1924, studying in the Gymnasia Herzlia. While in Palestine, Arazi joined Haganah and the Palestine British Police.

  32. Meir Har-Zion

    Meir Har-Zion (b. 1934) is an Israeli military commando fighter. He has gained notability for serving in Unit 101 of the Israel Defense Forces. In September 1956, Har-Zion was wounded in a retaliation mission, and was saved after being operated on in the field. Due to his service as one of the tactical commanders of Unit 101 and his conduct in battle, he was awarded the rank of an officer and the Medal of Courage.

    Rafi Izbicki is an Israel Defense Forces spokesperson, originally from Geneva, Switzerland. Born in 1962, he was the contact between Tsahal and the European press during the beginning of the second Intifada. Izbicki serves with the grade of major in the reserve duty of the IDF spokesperson. Beside his activity as a military, he also works as a tour guide, especially for French, German and English speaking public. He's also a lecturer in those same languages.
