    John Field (July 26, 1782 - January 23, 1837) was an Irish composer and pianist. He is best known for being the first composer to write nocturnes.

    Thomas Wilcox was a a British Puritan clergyman and controversialist. In 1571, with John Field he authored the "Admonition to the Parliament", that called for the removal of Bishops and ecclesiastical hierarchy. Wilcox and Field were imprisoned for one year for this. He was one of the most powerful of Elizabethan Puritans, with many ‘friends in high places’ such as Francis Walsingham, allowing him considerable influence in England.

    Mary Louise Boehm was a pianist and painter who was born on July 25, 1928 in Sumner, Iowa and died on November 29, 2002 in Spain. Mary Louise Boehm was a descendant of Joseph Böhm, a piano maker active in Vienna during the early 19th century. Born in Iowa, her early aptitude for the piano earned her the reputation of a child prodigy. She studied with Louis Crowder at Iowa State Teachers College and subsequently with Robert Casadesus and Walter Gieseking.

  13. Ignaz Tiegerman

    Ignaz Tiegerman was a Polish pianist and teacher. He was an exceptional interpreter of the Romantic school (Field, Chopin, Brahms, et al.). He studied with Leschetizky but his lessons with Ignaz Friedman were more significant. Tiegerman considered Friedman his mentor, and Friedman deemed him "the greatest talent I ever worked with." His recordings are highly regarded, despite their not being of studio sound quality in most cases.
