  1. Jeffrey Chiarenzelli

    Jeffrey Chiarenzelli joins St. Lawrence as an Associate Professor of Geology, after serving as an Associate Professor of Geology and Department Chairperson at SUNY Potsdam. He received his B.S. in Geology from SLU in 1981, and then went on to earn an M.S. in Geology in 1983 from Carleton University in Ottawa, and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Kansas in1989.

    Ellen Smith is a research staff member in the Environmental Sciences Division. She joined ORNL in 1982, having worked previously as a hydrogeologist for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources in the solid and hazardous waste regulatory program. She holds a B.A. in Geology (1974) from Carleton College (Minnesota) and an M.S. in Water Resources Management (1979) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Prior to joining BDA, he worked at Core Pacific - Yamaichi Capital, Shanghai Office for seven years as Vice President and Head of Corporate Finance, where he advised clients in IT, mining and metal sectors on raising capital via IPOs and private placements.

  5. Sidney Hemming

    Sidney Hemming received her BS in Geology at Midwestern State University (Wichita Falls, TX), MS in Geology at Tulane University, and a Ph.D. in Geology at SUNY Stony Brook. She was a postdoctoral research scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, and has been on the faculty of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences since 1996. Her current research focuses on the application of isotope geochemistry of sedimentary archives to understand Earth’s history.

Bob recently retired from the Samson Companies and has over thirty years experience in worldwide petroleum exploration and production. He is an experienced prospect generator and evaluator, and exploration manager.

    Robert M. Thorson (1973) graduated from Bemidji State University Summa Cum Laude in Earth Science Teaching and has never looked back! He went on to receive his M.S. in Geology in 1975 from the University of Alaska and then his Ph.D. in Geology in 1979 from the University of Washington. Between 1980 and 1986 he was at the University of Alaska and served as Asst.

  9. Blair Larsen

    Blair, Learning Specialist, earned a B.A. in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia, a B.S. in Secondary Science Teaching from Utah State University, and is currently working on a M.S. in Geology at USU. Blair taught 8th grade science for 11 years at Mt Logan Middle School in Logan. Originally from Virginia, Blair has lived in Logan since 1990.

    Matt Humphreys Matt Humphreys is Business Development Manager for Storm Cat Energy. He has over 30 years of oil and gas experience with an extensive background in acquisitions and new ventures. Prior to joining Storm Cat Energy, Matt was employed at Huber Energy in their New Ventures-Powder River team.

  11. William E. Weidner

    Mr. Weidner has been active in the energy business since 1980, first as a geologist in the oil and gas industry, then as a banker, principal, or intermediary, on the investment side. He joined COSCO in 1997, and in 2000 became a Member and Managing Director. For COSCO, Mr. Weidner concentrates on advising industry clients that are pursuing private placements of debt and equity.

    Carl Steefel obtained his B.A. in English Literature, his M.S. in Geology, and his Ph.D. in Geochemistry (1992). He has over 20 years of experience in developing models for multicomponent reactive transport in porous media and applying them to topics in reactive contaminant transport and water-rock interaction.

    Greg Hattan PG , Environmental Geologist, Underground Storage Tank Program, Kansas Department of Health and Environment Greg Hattan has been an Environmental Geologist with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment since 1994. Currently, he is Chief of the UST Remediation Unit, which is in charge of providing technical expertise and oversight at over 200 active remediation projects.

    DAN LACZ Dan Lacz is responsible for project development and financial analysis for the Company. As a project executive, he is involved in the approval process for design/build projects and successfully interfaces between our clients and the construction/design teams. Dan is also responsible for acquisition/disposition financial analysis and debt financing.

  15. Stu Schaefer

    Stu is a third generation Leadville resident. He worked as a ski patroller at Ski Cooper in the late 80’s and helped develop Chicago Ridge Snowcat Tours. He later became the director at Chicago Ridge as well as ski patrolling at Breckenridge Ski Resort. Stu joined the CAIC in fall of 1999 and has been working along the highways in Summit, Grand and Eagle Counties ever since. He has a B.S. and M.S. in Geology from Fort Lewis College and Colorado School of Mines respectively.

    Brent Brent Huntsman , Geologist Brent graduated from Indiana State University with a BS in Math and Geology in 1980 and during 1983 he was awarded an MS in Geology from Texas A&M University. Brent's experience is primarily in the Frio, Vicksburg, and Wilcox Trends of South Texas.

  17. Dorothy Malaier

    Dorothy Malaier , Chief of the UST Corrective Action Section, Alabama I have held this position since 1991. My entire career has been involved with petroleum in one capacity or another. I began my career in oil and gas exploration. I then moved to a field production role, later to the regulation of oil and gas production and saltwater disposal in Utah, and now have worked for 14 years in the Alabama UST Corrective Action program.

  18. Jack Kramberger

    Mr. Kramberger holds a B.S. in Geology from the University of Wisconsin, and a M.S. in Geology from the University of Michigan. He is an active member in various industry organizations including AAPG, Houston, West Texas and Shreveport Geological Societies. He is recognized by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists as a Certified Petroleum Geologist #1836. Jack is also a Registered Geologist in the State of Texas #819 and the State of Arkansas #143.

    Damon Chaky is an assistant professor in the Department of Math and Science at Pratt. He received a Ph.D. in Geology (Geochemistry concentration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003, after earning a M.S. in Geology from Mississippi State University and a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from RPI. Dr. Chaky's research focuses on the sources, transport and fate of pollutants in the urban environment, particularly that of New York City.
