Monte Kenton Solberg PC, MP (born September 17, 1958 in Calgary, Alberta) is a Canadian Member of Parliament, representing the riding of Medicine Hat in the Canadian House of Commons as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. He is the current Minister of Human Resources and Social Development. He has also served as Critic for Foreign Affairs, National Revenue, and Human Resources Development.

Matt Keetley (born April 27, 1986 in Medicine Hat, Alberta) is an ice hockey goaltender with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League. He was drafted in the fifth round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, 158th overall, by the Calgary Flames. In 2006-07, Keetley was named the WHL Playoff MVP as he led the Tigers to their second league championship in four years.

Neil Little (born December 18, 1971 in Medicine Hat, Alberta) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He was a member of the Philadelphia Flyers organization nearly his entire professional career, helping backstop the Philadelphia Phantoms to two Calder Cup championships and playing in two career NHL games with the Flyers.

Doug Young (b. October 1, 1908 in Medicine Hat, Alberta - d. 1990) was a former ice hockey defenseman playing mostly for the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. Young was also captain of the Red Wings from 1935 to 1938.
- Gordie Johnson
Gordie Johnson is a Canadian musician, graduating from high school in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He has been a vocalist and guitarist for the blues-rock bands Big Sugar and Grady, where he now refers to himself as 'Grady' Johnson. Horace Andrew (Bud) Olson, PC, AOE (October 6, 1925 - February 14, 2002) was a Canadian Member of Parliament, Senator, rancher and farmer. He also owned a general store and a farm supply business; and served as Canada's minister of agriculture and Alberta's lieutenant-governor. Born in Iddesleigh, Alberta, Bud Olson was first elected to the House of Commons in the 1957 election as a Social Credit Member of Parliament (MP) from Medicine Hat.

Blaine Lacher (pronounced "locker"; September 5th, 1970, Medicine Hat, Alberta) was a goaltender for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League in the mid-1990s. Lacher was a standout goaltender at Lake Superior State University in college, leading his team to a national championship in 1992. In the following season, his final one at Lake Superior State, Lacher led the nation in both save percentage (SV%) and goals against average (GAA) at .918 and 1.98, respectively.

The Richardson family murders involved the murder of three members of the family in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The bodies of Marc Richardson (age 42), his wife Debra (age 48), and their son Jacob (age 8) were found by a friend of Jacob on April 23, 2006 at 1 p.m. Absent from the home at the time of the discovery was Jasmine Richardson, the couple's 12 year old daughter (early news reports said she was 13).

Herbert Thomas (Bert) Hargrave (30 March 1917-24 September 1996) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta and became a rancher by career. He held a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan in agricultural engineering. He represented Alberta's Medicine Hat electoral district where he first won national office in the 1972 federal election.

William Charles Simmons was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1906 to 1908 for the Alberta Liberal Party. He was elected in a by-election after Leverett DeVeber was appointed to the Canadian Senate. He resigned in 1908 to run for the Canadian House of Commons for Medicine Hat. He was defeated by former Northwest Territories MLA Charles Alexander Magrath.
- Charles Alexander Magrath
Charles Alexander Magrath conducted foundation surveys of the Northwest Territories from 1878 until 1885. He joined Sir Alexander Tilloch Galt and Elliot Torrance Galt in their western industrial enterprises as a surveyor, later becoming Elliott's assistant and Land Commissioner of the North Western Coal and Navigation Company. He was also the first mayor of Lethbridge, Alberta, which has a major street (Mayor Magrath Drive) named after him.

Lougheed was born in Brampton, Canada West to Irish Protestant parents. The family moved to Toronto when Lougheed was a child, and he grew up in some of the poorest neighbourhoods in that city. He followed his father into the carpentry trade at a very young age, but on his mother's insistence he returned to school.

William Ashbury Buchanan, (born: July 2, 1876 South Monaghan, Ontario died: July 12, 1954) was a journalist, publisher and politician based in Alberta. Following a career as a journalist in Ontario, Buchanan moved to Alberta and purchased the "Lethbridge Weekly Herald" in 1905. He attempted, unsuccessfully, to turn the paper into a daily in 1907 but it soon resumed a weekly publishing schedule.

He became a medical officer for the Canadian Pacific Railway and moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta. In 1912, he married Harriet Robinson, a registered nurse. They had 4 daughters: Margaret, Edith, Norma, and Lorraine.

Robert Harold Porter (born 14 August 1933 in Medicine Hat, Alberta) was a Progressive Conservative party member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was a businessman, rancher and farmer by career. He represented the Ontario riding of Medicine Hat where he was first elected in the 1984 federal election and re-elected in 1988, therefore becoming a member in the 33rd and 34th Canadian Parliaments.

He then took his first journalism job at CKLQ Radio in Brandon, Manitoba in the fall of 1997 and was a radio news reporter there for one year.

His mother, however, was an alcoholic which caused Glowatski's father to leave her in 1996.

James Duncan McGregor (August 29, 1860-March 15, 1935) was a Canadian agricultural pioneer and office holder. He served as Lieutenant-Governor of Manitoba between 1929 and 1934. McGregor was born in Amherstburg, Canada West (now Ontario), and was educated at public schools in Windsor. He did not attend college. He moved to Manitoba in 1877, and worked in his father's cattle business in Brandon.
