Will Shortz (born August 26, 1952) is a U.S. puzzle creator and editor.

Albert Ross Eckler, Jr. (born August 29, 1927 in Boston, Massachusetts), the son of statistician A. Ross Eckler. He received a B.A. from Swarthmore College and a PhD in mathematics from Princeton University. While at Bell Labs, Eckler co-authored "Mathematical Models of Target Coverage and Missle Allocation" with Stefan A. Burr. This was the first monograph published by the Military Operations Research Society (MORS).
