- Monte Kiffin
Monte Kiffin (born February 29, 1940 in Lexington, Nebraska) is an American football coach in the NFL. He currently serves as defensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Kiffin is widely considered to be one of the best defensive minds in the NFL, and an elite defensive coordinator. His defensive philosophy is one of the most influential in modern college and pro football. His son Lane Kiffin is currently the head coach of the Oakland Raiders.
- Neil Smith
Neil Smith (born April 10, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana) is a former defensive end in the NFL who played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 1988 to 1996, Denver Broncos from 1997 to 1999, and the San Diego Chargers in 2000. Before his NFL career, he played for the University of Nebraska. One of the top defensive linemen of his era, Smith made the Pro Bowl 6 times during his career(1991 to 1995 and 1997), and led the NFL with 15 sacks in the 1993 season.

Le Kevin Smith (born July 21, 1982 in Macon, Georgia) is an football defensive lineman for the New England Patriots of the National Football League. Smith played collegiate football at the University of Nebraska, and drafted in the 6th round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Patriots.
- Ed Weir
Edwin Weir was the first Nebraska Cornhusker football player elected to the College Football Hall of Fame and is known as one of Nebraska's greatest athletes. In 2005 the Omaha World Herald, as part of a series on the 100 Greatest Athletes of Nebraska, named Weir the 19th best athlete in the state's history. Weir played on the offensive line at Nebraska and was an integral part of the team that beat the "Four Horsemen" of the University of Notre Dame.
- Titus Adams
Titus Adams (born January 28, 1983 in Omaha, Nebraska) is an American football player for the New York Giants of the NFL. Adams was a 7th round draft choice out of the University of Nebraska, drafted by the New York Jets in the 2006 NFL Draft. Adams played defensive tackle in college. In 49 games with the Huskers, Adams started 22 times. He recorded 135 tackles (60 solos) with 3.5 sacks, 16 tackles for losses and 26 quarterback pressures.
- Henry Waechter
Henry Carl Waechter (born February 13, 1959 in Epworth, Iowa) is a former American football defensive lineman in the NFL. Waechter played six seasons for the Chicago Bears, Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts, and Washington Redskins. He played college football for the University of Nebraska. Waechter is a member of the 1985 Bears that won Super Bowl XX. He scored the game's final points on a sack of New England Patriots quarterback Steve Grogan in the end zone for a safety.

Watshidimba "Patrick" Kabongo (born June 27, 1979 in Kinshasa, Zaire) is an Offensive lineman for the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League. He also played Defensive Tackle for the University of Nebraska.
- Adam Carriker
Adam Carriker, (born on May 6, 1984), is a defensive tackle for the St. Louis Rams of the National Football League. He was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft. He played college football for Nebraska.
- Rich Glover
Rich Glover (born February 6, 1950) was an American football player. In 1972, while playing college football for the University of Nebraska, he won the Outland Trophy for best lineman.
- Ryon Bingham
Ryon Bingham (born June 6, 1981) is an American football defensive tackle who currently plays for the San Diego Chargers.
- John Parrella
John Parrella (born November 22, 1969) is a retired NFL defensive tackle. Parrella was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 2nd round of the 1993 NFL Draft out of the University of Nebraska. Parrella played most of his career with the San Diego Chargers from 1994-2001. He also played for the Oakland Raiders from 2002-2004.
- Jim Skow
Jim Skow (born June 29, 1963 in Omaha, Nebraska) is a former American football defensive end who played seven seasons in the National Football League. He finished his career with 24 sacks and 1 fumble recovery. His best season was in 1988, recording 9.5 sacks and helping the Bengals reach Super Bowl XXIII, where he recorded several tackles and a fumble recovery.

Danny Noonan (born July 14, 1965) is a former defensive end in the NFL. He played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1987-1992 and Green Bay Packers also in 1992.
- Lloyd Voss
Lloyd John Voss (February 13, 1942 - March 1, 2007) was an American football defensive end. He was drafted in the first round by the Green Bay Packers in the 1964 NFL Draft. He played most of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Voss reportedly died of liver and kidney failure on March 1st, 2007.

- Christian Peter
Christian Peter was a defensive tackle in the NFL. His draft rights were released by the New England Patriots in 1996 due to his violent history. Peter was convicted of sexual assault for which he received 18 months probation after he repeatedly grabbed a former Miss Nebraska by the crotch in a public place and told her that she liked it. He has been accused of raping at least two women. Peter was arrested a total of eight times, and convicted four times.
