Richard Miller is the founding president of Olin College since 1999. Previously he was Dean of the College of Engineering and Professor at the University of Iowa.

Woodie C. Flowers is a professor of mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His specialty areas are engineering design and product development, he holds the Pappalardo Professorship and is a MacVicar Faculty Fellow. He gained his B.S. at Louisiana Polytechnic University in 1966 and added a M.S., a M.E., and a Ph.D., all from MIT between 1968 and 1972. He was made an Assistant Professor at MIT in 1972 and a professor in 1988.

Kevin Tostado is a native of San Diego, California. He was a member of the inaugural class at Olin College of Engineering in Needham, MA. Kevin has always been into film and video. Dr. Michael Moody joined Olin College from Harvey Mudd College , an engineering-focused member of the Claremont colleges in California . At Harvey Mudd, Dr. Moody was the Diana and Kenneth Jonsson Professor of Mathematics and chair of the mathematics department. While there, he played a major role in a comprehensive curriculum design effort and built the mathematics department into one of the finest in the country.

Lynn Andrea Stein is another MIT refugee--she was an associate professor of computer science--who has joined the Olin faculty. Stein, a pioneer in developing a new approach to teaching computer science, says that at MIT her work did not fit into the established "disciplinary pigeonholes." At Olin, she will not have to fit into the conventional pigeonholes of academic research because there will not be departmental boundaries.

Tom Kochem – Producer, Writer Tom Kochem was born in Belmont, Massachusetts. An alumnus of Olin College in Needham, MA with a degree in mechanical engineering, he has always been interested in film and video. His original interest was in special effects, but he also worked on crew for high school plays. After taking a digital art class, he decided to purchase his own personal camera, tripod, and editing software.

Franklin W. Olin The Western Cartridge Company In 1892, Franklin W. Olin , a Vermont-born engineer who was educated at Cornell University, founded the Equitable Powder Company in East Alton, Illinois. A predecessor of Olin Industries, Equitable Powder supplied blasting powder to midwestern coal fields. The powder company soon expanded into small arms ammunition, and the Western Cartridge Company was formed in 1898.
