  1. Donovan Bailey

    Donovan Bailey (born December 16, 1967) is a Canadian former athlete. Born in Manchester, Jamaica, Bailey emigrated from Jamaica to Canada at age 13, and played basketball before his graduation at Queen Elizabeth Park High School in Oakville, Ontario. He began competing as a 100 m sprinter part-time in 1991, but he did not take up the sport seriously until 1994. At that time, he was also a successful stockbroker. The following year saw his international breakthrough.

  2. Simon Whitfield

    Simon St. Quentin Whitfield is an Olympic triathlon champion from Canada. He has dual Canadian and Australian citizenship. As a young boy he played soccer but at age 11 began triathlon and by age 15 was pursuing it on a serious competitive basis. Whitfield’s gold medal win in the triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia is one of the most memorable performances by an individual athlete in Canadian sporting history.

  3. Mike Beres

    Mike Beres (born May 13, 1973 in Brantford, Ontario) is a male badminton player from Canada, who won the bronze medal in the men's doubles competition at the 1999 Pan American Games. Beres competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in mixed double's with partner Jody Patrick. They lost to Frederik Bergstrom and Johanna Persson of Sweden in the round of 32.

  4. Chantal Petitclerc

    Chantal Petitclerc is a Canadian wheelchair athlete. She won three gold medals (in 100 m, 200 m, and 400 m) and a bronze (800 m) at the 2002 World Championships and a gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in the 800 m. At the 2004 Summer Olympics (where wheelchair racing was an exhibition sport) she won the 800 m, and went on to an impressive showing at the 2004 Summer Paralympics.

  5. Alexandre Despatie

    Alexandre Despatie (born June 8, 1985 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a French Canadian diver. He is the current World champion at the 1 and 3m springboard and is the first diver to have been World champion in the three categories (1, 3, 10m platform).

  6. Kenneth Money

    Kenneth ("Ken") Money is the Senior Scientist at the Defense and Civil Institute of Environmental Medicine in Toronto. He has published over one hundred science articles and authored six different topics in the World Book Encyclopedia. Money attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute for high school. Some of his contributions in the scientific field include knowledge of the inner ear, motion sickness, disorientation, and biological effects of space flight.

  7. Ryder Hesjedal

    Ryder Hesjedal (born December 9, 1980 in Victoria, British Columbia) in is a Canadian professional cyclist who currently rides for the Health Net Pro Cycling Team Presented by Maxxis cycling team. He is a former mountain biker (having won a silver medal at the 2001 U23 World Mountain Bike Championships) and in 2005 turned professional with the Discovery Channel Pro Cycling Team after spending several years with the Rabobank amateur team.

  8. Susan Nattrass

    Susan Marie Nattrass (born November 5, 1950 in Medicine Hat, Alberta) is a Canadian shooter. She started shooting at age 13 and was educated at the University of Alberta. In the 1976 Summer Olympics she became the first ever woman to participate in a shooting event at the Olympics, as shooting was open to both sexes until 1992. She won a silver medal at the 2001 world championships in Cairo, Egypt in the trap event.

  9. Clara Hughes

    Clara Hughes (born September 27, 1972 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian cyclist and speed skater, and has won multiple Olympic medals in both sports. She is very involved with Right To Play, an athlete-driven international humanitarian organization that uses sports to encourage the development of children and youth in the most disadvantaged areas of the world.

  10. Helen Nichol

    Helen Nichol (born 18 February 1981 in Burlington, Ontario) is a female badminton player from Canada, who won the gold medal in the women's doubles competition at the 2003 Pan American Games, partnering Charmaine Reid. Nichol competed in badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in women's doubles with partner Charmaine Reid. They were defeated by Cheng Wen-Hsing and Chien Yu Chin of Taiwan in the round of 32.

  11. Adam van Koeverden

    Adam Joseph van Koeverden (born January 29, 1982 in Oakville, Ontario) is a Canadian flatwater kayak racer and reigning Olympic champion in K-1 500 m. He won a bronze medal in the K-1 1000 m at the 1999 world junior championships in Zagreb, Croatia, and then became world junior marathon champion in 2000. His first success as a senior came with a silver medal at the 2003 world championships in Gainesville, Georgia in the men's K-1 1000 m event.

  13. Lars Hansen

    Lars Hansen (born September 27, 1954 in Copenhagen, Denmark) is a retired Canadian professional National Basketball Association player. He grew up in Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, where he was a basketball star at Centennial Secondary School. He would go onto play his college basketball at the University of Washington. And after a successful career there he was selected in the 3rd round in the 1976 NBA Draft.

He was the first Canadian male athlete to compete in both the 1984 Summer Olympics (cycling) and 1984 Winter Olympics (cross-country skiing).   33. Meghan Agosta

    Meghan Agosta (born February 12, 1987 in Ruthven, Ontario) is a women's ice hockey player. Agosta first started playing hockey at age 6, switching to it from figure skating. She played for the Chatham Cyclones AAA organization and later for the Junior AA Windsor Wildcats of the Ontario Provincial Women's Hockey League. At the 2003 Canada Games, she scored the winning goal for Team Ontario. In August of 2004 she moved to Calgary to train with the national team.

    Charles Allen (born March 3, 1977 in Georgetown, Guyana) is a Canadian-Guyanese athlete specializing in hurdling, but also a sprinter.     Raymond ("Ray") Gray Lewis, C.M. (October 8, 1910 - November 15, 2003) was a track and field athlete, and the first Canadian-born black Olympic medalist.
