    Graham Upton is the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford Brookes University, and has been since September 1997. He is currently under active votes of no-confidence from the Students' Union and the staff unions. These votes are mostly as a consequence of his decision to change the university year from a three-term system to a two-semester one, which was seen by some as a money making exercise that took no account of the staff or student concerns.

    Arash Ghorbani-Zarin (1986 - 2004) was an Iranian student at Oxford Brookes University who was murdered by the brothers of his girlfriend, Manna Begum in a case of honour killing. His body was discovered in a car in Rosehill, Oxford, on November 20, 2004. He had been stabbed 46 times. Miss Begum's father, Bangladeshi-born waiter Chomir Ali (44), had intended for his daughter to enter a forced marriage, which she had refused.

    Hugo Laurence Joseph Brunner JP is Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, England. Hugo Brunner was appointed the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire in 1996. He has been an enthusiastic supporter of the installation of blue plaques through his chairmanship of the Oxfordshire Blue Plaques Board, established in 1999 and administered by the Oxford Civic Society. Brunner was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by Oxford Brookes University in 1999.

    Kevin McCloud (born May 8 1959) is a British designer, writer and television presenter. He is best known for his work on the Channel 4 series "Grand Designs". He studied History of Art at Cambridge University, where he was also a member of the Footlights society. After graduating, he worked as a theatre designer, then set up his own practice in interior and lighting design. His work includes the carved and painted rococo-style ceiling in the Food Halls at Harrods.
