  1. Zhang Li

    Zhang Li is a Chinese épée fencer. Zhang won the gold medal in the épée team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships after beating France in the final. She accomplished this with her team mates Li Na, Luo Xiaojuan and Zhong Weiping.

    Wang Yan (born May 3, 1971 in Liaoning) is a Chinese race walker, who won the bronze medal over 10 km at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She also won the 1993 IAAF World Race Walking Cup, as well as a silver medal at the 1999 World Championships and a bronze at the 2001 East Asian Games.

  4. Tao Li

    Tao Li (Chinese: 陶李, Pinyin: Táo Lǐ; born 10 January 1990 in Hubei, China) is a competitive swimmer with Singaporean citizenship since 2005 after she moved to the country in 2002. Apart from having represented the Republic at the SEA Games and Asian Games, Tao, a Singapore Sports School student, currently holds several national records. She took part in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

  5. Li Na

    Li Na (born March 9, 1981) is a Chinese épée fencer. Li won the gold medal in the épée team event at the 2006 World Fencing Championships after beating France in the final. She accomplished this with her team mates Luo Xiaojuan, Zhang Li and Zhong Weiping.

  6. Wang Lei

    Wang Lei is a Chinese épée fencer. Wang won the gold medal at the épée 2006 World Fencing Championships after beating Joaquim Videira 6-5 in the final. He also won the silver medal in the 2004 Summer Olympics.

  8. Fei Wang

    Fei Wang is a female beach volleyball player from PR China, who won the bronze medal in the women's beach team competition at the 2005 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Berlin, Germany, partnering Jia Tian. She represented her native country at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. After playing in only one event each in the 1998, 1999 and 2000 seasons, Fei Wang started competing full-time on the FIVB World Tour with Jia Tian in 2001.

    Guo Wei (born 31 July 1983) is a Chinese short track speed skater. At the 2002 Winter Olympics he won a bronze medal in 5000 m relay, together with teammates Feng Kai, Li Jiajun and Li Ye.

  10. Li Zheng

    Li Zheng (born 18 January 1986) is a Chinese weightlifter. Li participated in the men's -56 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the gold medal, snatching 128 kg and jerking an additional 152 kg for a total of 280 kg.

  13. Li Ye

    Li Ye (born 26 December 1983) is a Chinese short track speed skater. At the 2002 Winter Olympics he won a bronze medal in 5000 m relay, together with teammates Feng Kai, Li Jiajun and Guo Wei. At the 2006 Winter Olympics he finished fifth in 1000 m and 5000 m relay. He reached the A final in 1500 metres, but was disqualified there.

    Chen Qi (born 10 March 1982 in Shanghai) is a Chinese javelin thrower. He finished fourth at the 2006 IAAF World Cup and the 2006 Asian Games. His personal best throw is 81.38 metres, achieved in May 2004 in Shijiazhuang.

    Liu Dong (born 24 December 1973) is a retired Chinese middle distance runner. She holds the current Asian record over 800 metres with 1:55.54 minutes. Her personal best over 1500 metres was 3:56.31 minutes.

  17. Wu Tao

    Wu Tao (born 3 October 1983 in Liaoning) is a Chinese discus thrower. He won the 2002 World Junior Championships and the 2003 Summer Universiade and finished seventh at the 2005 Summer Universiade. On the regional level he won the 2003 Asian Championships and the 2002 Asian Games. He competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2005 World Championships without reaching the finals. His personal best throw is 64.28 metres, achieved in May 2005 in Chongqing.

    Gu Wei (born April 25, 1986) is a Chinese weightlifter who competed in the Women's 58 kg at the 2005 World Championships in Doha, Qatar and won the gold medal with 241 kg in total. <br/>

    Cao Lei (born 24 December 1983) is a Chinese weightlifter. Cao participated in the women's -75 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the gold medal, snatching 118 kg and pressing an additional 150 kg for a total of 268 kg.

  22. Wang Liping

    Wang Liping (born July 8, 1976 in Fengcheng, Liaoning) is a Chinese race walker who became an Olympic champion by winning the 20 kilometer event in 2000. Her personal best time is 1:26:23 hours, which puts her 8th on the all-time performers list.

  23. Jia Tian

    Jia Tian (born February 9, 1981 in Tian Jin) is a female beach volleyball player from PR China, who won the bronze medal in the women's team competition at the 2005 Beach Volleyball World Championships in Berlin, Germany, partnering Fei Wang. She represented her native country at the 2000 and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

  24. Zhu Jianhua

    Zhu Jianhua (born May 29, 1963) is a retired Chinese high jumper. Dominating Asian high jump in the early 1980's, he won the Asian Championships in 1981, crushing the championship record (CR) with 15 centimetres. He repeated this at the 1982 Asian Games with a jump of 2.33m, beating the previous CR with 12 cm. He retained his title in the 1986 Asian Games. His 1982 jump is an Asian Games record as of 2007, and no other athlete has jumped over 2.27 in the Games.

    Yuan Ye (born 1 July 1979) is a Chinese short track speed skater. He who won a bronze medal in the 5000 m relay at the 1998 Winter Olympics, together with teammates Li Jiajun, Feng Kai and An Yulong.

She won the 2002 IAAF World Cup in Madrid, finished fourth at the 2003 World Championships in Paris and tenth at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. At the Asian Games she won a gold medal in 2002 and a silver in 2006. At the Asian Championships she won gold medals in 1998, 2002 and 2003 and a silver in 2005. Her personal best throw is 72.36 metres, achieved in July 2004 in Padova.

    Yang Lian (born 16 October 1982) is a Chinese weightlifter. Yang participated in the women's -48 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the gold medal, snatching 98 kg and clean and jerking an additional 119 kg for a total of 217 kg. Both being world records and a world record for the total.

  30. Michael Anti

    Michael Anti (born August 2, 1964) is an American sport shooter, a Major in the U.S. Army, and a marksman in the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. At the 2004 Summer Olympics he won a silver medal in the 50 m Rifle, Three positions event with 1,263.1 points. The event winner was China's Zhanbo Jia with 1,264.5 points.

    Lei Sheng (born 7 March, 1984) is a Chinese foil fencer. Lei won the bronze medal at the foil 2006 World Fencing Championships after he lost 15-10 to Peter Joppich in the semi final.

    Feng Kai (born 28 August 1978) is a Chinese short track speed skater, who won bronze medals in the 5000 m relay at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics.

    Xue Juan (born 10 February 1986) is a Chinese javelin thrower. She won the silver medal at the 2002 Asian Championships, the gold medal at the 2003 World Youth Championships and finished sixth at the 2006 Asian Games. She also competed at the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2005 World Championships without reaching the finals. Her personal best throw is 62.93 metres, first achieved in October 2003 in Changsha. This is the current junior world record.

    Tong Wen (born 1 February 1983) is a Chinese judoka. She won a gold medal at the +78 kg category of the 2003 World Judo Championships and the 2006 Asian Games.

  36. Tan Xue

    Tan Xue is a Chinese fencer who won the silver medal in Sabre Individual at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She became world champion in 2002 and won silver medals in both Individual and Team Sabre at the 2003 World Championship.

  37. Wang Lina

    Wang Lina (born 28 February 1983 in Chongqing) is a Chinese long jumper. She won the silver medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships, and competed at the 2004 Olympic Games without reaching the final. In 2005 she tested positive for the banned substance norandrosterone. She was suspended from the sport between August 2005 and August 2007. Her personal best jump is 6.72 metres, achieved in July 2004 in Beijing.

    Li Xuemei (born February 1, 1977 in Guanghan, Sichuan Province) is a Chinese sprinter. She is the fastest Asian woman in history with a personal best time of 10.79 in the 100 metres, achieved on 18 October 1997 in Shanghai. Four days later she ran another personal best and Asian record; 22.01 seconds over 200 metres. Li participated at the Olympic Games in 2000 and 2004, without advancing to the final.

  40. Huang Zhihong

    Huang Zhihong (born May 7, 1965 in Lanxi, Zhenjiang) is a former shot put athlete from China. An Olympic silver medallist and a double world champion, she was in fact the first Asian to win a world championship in athletics. Her personal best throw is 21.52, achieved in Beijing 1990.
