  1. Farris Hassan

    Farris Hassan (born 1989) is an American who, while a junior at Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, took an unaccompanied trip Iraq. He said he was inspired by a personal attachment to the situation in Iraq and an English class having a project on "immersion journalism". It was reported that Hassan left home for Iraq without telling his parents. Hassan's parents, now divorced, are Iraqi-born but immigrated to the United States, where they have lived for 35 years.

    Kevin Boothe (born July 5, 1983) is an American football offensive guard for the National Football League Oakland Raiders. He played college football at Cornell University, and was selected in the sixth round (176th overall) by the Oakland Raiders in the 2006 NFL Draft.   4. Andy Coan

    Andrew B. "Andy" Coan (born Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is a former American freestyle swimmer. In 1975, at just 17 years of age while representing Pine Crest High School at an Amateur Athletic Union swimming meet, he broke Mark Spitz's 12-day old 100 metre freestyle world record. Later that year, under the coaching of Jack Nelson, Coan won three gold medals at the 1975 FINA World Championships in Cali, Colombia.

  5. Diana Nyad

    In 1979, Diana Nyad stroked her way to the longest swim in history, for both men and women. The distance was 102.5 miles--from the island of Bimini to the Florida shore--and that incredible record still stands today. Diana was front page news throughout the Western world, the lead story for Walter Cronkite on the CBS Evening News, and many times guest of The Tonight Show. For ten years (1969-1979) Diana was the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world.

  6. Stuart Dean Friedel

    Member of the Pomona College class of 2008. Graduated from Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (June 2004). According to a letter from the NBA Office of the General Counsel, signed by Senior Director of Salary Cap Management Andrew Taub, Stuart is an NBA free agent.

    Dr. Berkowitz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and of the American College of Surgeons. He has served as Chief of Orthopaedics and Vice-Chief of Staff at Universal Medical Center. He has served as Assistant Chief Medical Officer of the 1996 South Florida Olympic Soccer Team and as the team doctor of the Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale. Dr. Berkowitz has also provided medical coverage for the Red Clay Tennis Tournament in Coral Springs.

    Ryan Howard begins his first season as an assistant swim coach and recruiting coordinator with the Northern Colorado swimming and diving program in 2006-07. Howard comes to Northern Colorado after spending two years as an assistant coach and satellite campus director with Pine Crest Swimming in Boca Raton, Fla.
