  1. Charles Moose

    Charles Alexander Moose (born 1953 in New York, New York) served as the 15th Montgomery County, Maryland, Police Chief from August 2, 1999, to June 18, 2003, when he resigned to write a book about the Beltway sniper attacks that occurred during his time as Montgomery County Police Chief. During October 2002, he became internationally known as the primary official in charge of the efforts to apprehend the Beltway snipers.

  6. Charles H. Ramsey

    Charles H. Ramsey was the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPDC) from 1998-2006. A native of Chicago, Illinois, he joined the Chicago Police Department as an 18 year old cadet in 1968. After serving six years as a patrol officer, he was promoted to sergeant in 1977. He was appointed a lieutenant in 1984 and became captain in 1988.

  7. Bill Blair

    William Sterling (Bill) Blair is the current Chief of Police of Toronto, Ontario. He was appointed on April 6, 2005, and assumed his duties on April 26. He took over from interim chief Mike Boyd (who had served for just over a month following the end of Julian Fantino's contract.) Blair joined the police force in 1974 as a constable in Regent Park. He progressed quickly to drug enforcement, including work as an undercover officer.

    Ella M. Bully-Cummings (born 1958) became the first female police chief of Detroit, the tenth-largest police force in the United States, when Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick appointed her on November 3, 2003. She is married to Attorney William Cummings, a retired Detroit police commander. She was previously married to Wayne County Sheriff Warren C. Evans.

  9. Cathy L. Lanier

    Cathy L. Lanier is the Chief of Police with the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia (MPDC). Incoming Washington, D.C. mayor Adrian Fenty selected Lanier to replace outgoing Police Chief Charles Ramsey. Lanier is the first female MPDC chief. Lanier, who grew up in Tuxedo, Maryland, joined the MPDC in 1990 a foot patrolman. In 1994 she was promoted to sergeant, and two years later, a lieutenant, before becoming a patrol supervisor.
