  4. Bruce Braley

    Congressman Bruce Braley was born in Grinnell, Iowa, in 1957. He grew up in the small rural town of Brooklyn, Iowa, in Poweshiek County and graduated from BGM High School. Bruce married Carolyn Kalb of Dubuque in 1983 and lives with her and their three children—Lisa, David, and Paul—in Waterloo. Bruce learned the value of hard work from his parents. When Bruce was young, his father was severely injured at the grain elevator where he worked.

He joined the family business in 1973 and became a licensed funeral director in 1976. In 1987 with the death of his father and the founder of the business, Bird S. Owen, David became President of Owen Funeral Homes. The Owen family, along with two other local families, also owns the Highlands Funeral Home.

    Jake Fey was elected to the Tacoma City Council in 200 5 and represents Council District 2 . Jake grew up in Port Angeles, Washington, and has lived in Tacoma’s 2nd District since 1980. Jake is a graduate of the University of Washington and also holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Puget Sound. Prior to his election to the City Council, Jake was a member of the Public Utility Board and its chair in 2004-2005.

When not immersed in the magazine, Ruth serves as past president of Big Brothers and Sisters of Canada, a national organization which supports mentoring for children at risk.

    Kelly Kleinhans Kelly Kleinhans is the daughter of Scott and Debbie. Originally from Kiel, Wisconsin, Kelly is a senior elementary education major at UW-Whitewater with a minor in English. Kelly has made it a priority to be involved on campus, having worked at the UW-W Honors Office, Information Desk and Student WEA Undergraduate Research. Kelly has served as the president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, a Peer Mentor and a Campus Tour Guide among many other things.

    Tom Irwin is a Director and a past President of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Mercer County. Tom resides in Hillsborough, New Jersey with his wife and four children. Kepner-Tregoe

    Bruce Gearhart serves as president of Big Brothers/Big Sisters board, where he is charged with recruiting new board members. Debbie Ganz, their assistant director, is vice president of Elder Service Providers, a non-profit organization providing information and support to Whatcom County residents dealing with care giving issues.

  15. Jeff Keimer

    After graduating with a BSEE, Jeff spent five years in high technology product sales and marketing. He then moved into the investment field. Stimulated by his observation that business problems invariably stem from people problems, in 1977 he earned a Master of Arts in Business Psychology from the University of San Francisco. His studies had an emphasis on the Transactional Analysis psychological model.
