1. Harald Ringstorff

    Dr. Harald Ringstorff (born September 25 1939 in Wittenburg) is a German politician of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and minister-president of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. He has been heading a coalition government of SPD and PDS (now Left Party) from 1998 until 2006, and since then is heading a coalition between SPD and CDU. He is the current President of the German Bundesrat, serving for the term 2006/07.

    Kai-Uwe von Hassel (21 April 1913 - 8 May 1997) was a German politician from Schleswig-Holstein associated with the CDU party. Hassel was born in Gare, German East Africa (current Tanzania). In 1954-1963 he was Minister-President of Schleswig-Holstein. From 1955-1956, he was President of the German Bundesrat. He was closely associated with Ludwig Erhard's two Chancellorships, serving as Minister of Defense from 16 October 1963 to 1 December 1966.

    Alfons Goppel (October 1 1905 - December 24 1991) was a German politician of the CSU party. He was Bavarian minister for the interior (1958-1962) and prime minister of Bavaria (1962-1978), serving as President of the Bundesrat in 1972/73. In 1974 he gained the highest election victory for the CSU in Bavarian history with 62.1% of the votes. One of his sons, Thomas Goppel, is now Minister of Science, Research and the Arts in the present Bavarian cabinet of Edmund Stoiber.
