    Derek Porter (born November 2, 1967 in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is an olympic rower from Canada. Porter won his gold medal in the 1992 Summer Olympics, stroking the Canadian Men's Eight. In a photo finish, the Canadian boat won by 0.14 seconds, just nipping Romania, with two-time defending World Champion Germany just 1.5 seconds back in third. The Canadian time of 5:29.53 is still the fastest ever rowed in an Olympic final.

    Nick Green is a former Australian Olympics rowing champion. He was educated at Xavier College in Kew, Melbourne and at Melbourne High School. He competed in two Olympic Games - 1992 Summer Olympics and 1996 Summer Olympics, and was known as one of the "Oarsome Foursome". He was one of the eight flag-bearers of the Olympic Flag at the opening ceremony of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

  4. Silken Laumann

    Silken Suzette Laumann (born November 14, 1964 in Mississauga, Ontario) is a Canadian champion rower. Starting in 1976, Laumann won a number of awards, including a gold medal in quadruple sculls at the U.S. Championships, two gold medals in single sculls at the Pan American Games, a bronze medal at the 1984 Olympics in the double sculls with her sister Daniele. At the 1988 Olympics, Laumann finished seventh in the double scull.

  6. Rob Waddell

    Robert ("Rob") Norman Waddell, ONZM, (born January 7, 1975 in Te Kuiti) is a New Zealand rower, yachtsman and rugby player. In 1998, he married fellow rower Sonia Scown. Waddell won the single scull at the rowing World Championships in 1998 and 1999, and the gold medal in the Single Sculls at the 2000 Summer Olympics. During his World Championship period, Waddell had several closely contested races with Xeno Müller, the 1996 Summer Olympics champion.

    Elisabeta Lipă is a retired rower from Romania, who was born under the name of Elisabeta Oleniuc. She is the most decorated rower in the history of the Olympics, winning five golds, two silvers and one bronze. She holds the record for the most years between gold medals, at 20 years. Lipă debuted at the age of 19 at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California, where she won her first gold medal in the Double Scull event.

  8. Eskild Ebbesen

    Eskild Ebbesen (born May 27, 1972) is a noted Danish lightweight rower who has numerous Olympic and World Championship medals to his name. He is the current lightweight world record holder for the longest distance rowed in one hour on an ergometer. He is known as a role model for many lightweight rowers and stands 184 cm and weighs 75 kg. Ebbesen was the flag bearer of the Danish equipe at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

McBean and her long-time rowing partner Kathleen Heddle were the first Canadians to win three Olympic Gold medals.     Gerritjan Eggenkamp (14 November 1975) is a Dutch rower. Born in Leiden, Netherlands, Eggenkamp started rowing aged 12 at Het Spaarne rowing club in Heemstede, and first competed internationally as a Junior, coming 9th in the coxless four at the 1993 Junior World Championships. He was named as the spare man for the Dutch Men's coxless four for the 1996 Olympics, and then rowed in the coxless four at the 1997 and 1998 World Championships.

    Xeno Müller is a Swiss rower and Olympic gold medallist. His first international appearance was at the 1990 Junior World Rowing Championships - winning bronze in his single scull (1x). He first competed at the senior level in 1991, and at the age of 19, finished 11th at the World Rowing Championships in Vienna in the single scull. At the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, he just missed making the finals, finishing fourth in the semi-finals (3 to advance).
