Chris Ruiz Department Chair Mr. Ruiz graduated from Shafter High School and earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Bakersfield College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from CSUB in Physical Education. He is CTAP I and II certified and holds Education Specialist Instruction and Single Subject Clad Emphasis Credentials from CSUB. In both 2003 and 2004, Mr. Ruiz was recognized by students in the Who's Who Among America's Teachers.

Kurt graduated from Shafter High School in 1959 and subsequently served a four-year tour in the Air Force as a vehicle mechanic. He was stationed at a small radar site in the extreme north of Canada and while snowed in, he became the local disc jockey for the site’s low-watt radio station. After leaving the Air Force, Kurt became an oil field Mud Logger. In 1968, he decided to attend Bakersfield City College, and while there, he was a member of the Associated Veteran Students.

Adam is a firm believer of providing quality customer service to all contractors, grantees and partners of First 5 Kern. He enjoys being involved in the community, and is the elected vice president of the Kiwanis Club of Bakersfield, council member of the Kern County Child Care Council, vice president of the American Society for Public Administration and a graduate of the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce's Leadership Bakersfield program.
